Bothy Bar — Restaurant in Scotland

Busy kitchen on the night, by all accounts. No draught beers due to 'maintenance'? The food that myself and my partner had was fantastically underwhelming...sadly, we wanted a treat as it was our last night away. Steak and ale pie with 'seasonal vegetables', small amount of mash with handful of frozen peas/green beans. Maybe seasonal in Iceland, the shop!... Mac and cheese, surely you can't go wrong? Sadly, yes you can. Stodgy, overcooked pasta, unable to pick up a full piece and very little taste of cheese. Come on! #Serve proper veg, it's cheap. #Take less bookings if Chef is under too much pressure. #Give customers a better experience. Quality and profit can be achieved, with a bit of thought.

I'd say eat elsewhere until standards improve. A fish and chip shop would pay more attention to detail.

We gave this place two cheerful chances. Unfortunately policy won out over hospitality and graciousness of character. We were so hopeful of having a late lunch and beverages after arriving at 2:10 pm. We had the menus ripped from our hands and were rudely informed that absolutely no food was available for purchase at this time. We then left and were able to find sandwiches to go and dropped by again hoping to buy drinks at the pub and we were informed that “no outside food” would be able to be consumed on the premises and that the owner was very strict about this issue (despite the fact that food was unavailable for purchase and only beverages would be available.) We then left let down by “Orkney”...

There's only one thing to say about this bar. RUN 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♂️

As you enter this bar, the first thing you notice is that there are no beer fonts on the bar, i.e., no draught or real ales displayed or dispensed if you want let's say a pint of Guinness it comes in can form likewise the dash coke for your vodka comes from a 1.5L plastic bottle and has as much fizz in it as a flat car tyre.

I did notice a very small bar sign stating that there were no draught products due to there being a maintenance problem 🙄 😅 🙃. I'd say that going by the colour of the sign, there has been a on going maintenance problem for some time..... ohhhh, and the lad behind the bar definitely didn't want...
