Brodens Bar & Kitchen — Restaurant in Scotland

This has no reflect on the lady who served us as she was lovely But this was quite possibly the worst pub meal I've eaten in the entire United kingdom. It saddens me to write this as the reviews and pictures I've seen online , plus menu (which is not the same as their website ) Have encouragement to some decent eating. But we were massively disappointed with what arrived . The hand cut chips are just poorly cooked potatoe wedges. Dry, stodgy and flavourless, The Mac n cheese was still so floury the roux had clearly not been cooked out properly, with a bizarre taste of vinegar .The beef burger was like a cheap nasty frozen burger, horribly dry and horribly overcooked, the whiskey sauce tasted like it had gone off and there was enough lettuce to even make a rabbit think twice. It felt like eating in a weird coastal bar or club , not a village "bistro"......

4 ladies of a certain age dined in Brodens yesterday. (14th April 23) The experience was 5 star. Bright, airy, immaculate surroundings, first class attentive staff, and excellent menu choices. We settled for the 'pensioner menu' which we thought would mean much smaller portins. Nope. Not only were the portions equivalent to most normal size restaurant plates but the quality of the food was delightful. Meat that melted in the mouth, fish to die for, and mac and cheese I wish I could make.(oh! you must try the sticky toffee puding). I have to comment on the fact the the staff were very cognizant of my disability and made every effort to ensure I was comfortble and well attended to. Can recommend this...

Very nice and cosy interior. Staff where friendly enough. Starter was great but when the main course came it was downhill from there. I ordered the fish and chips and the fish was a quarter of the size compared to what was shown on their own website...my jaw dropped. Then they forgot my side dish. The biggest laugh came at the end, we paid the bill left a tip and put our coats on. As we where walking past the waitress saying our pleasantries she very kindly returned them, the whole time her head tilted and eyes fixated on our table where the tip money was...it was that obvious. Doubt we'll be back, But thanks...
