I was very excited o try this place after it’s been refurbished and reopened, but I was very disappointed. Me and my friends decided to go there for a brunch on a Saturday. Need to point out there’s no way to find out when their brunch ends. So we came at 2. After we arrived, we’ve been told there’s a 30 minute wait for food. Ok that’s fine. It took 30 mins for somebody to come around to take our drinks order and we got them 45 mins after we were sat down. Still no menus to look at and we were being ignored by all staff just passing by. Finally, at three we were told they do not take any more food orders at the moment, but after telling the waiter about us waiting for already an hour to just look at the menu, we promptly received them with an apology and rounds of drinks on the house, but we were told we can no longer order from the brunch menu, because their brunch finished 5 mins ago (It was 3:05pm). Well played. Another hour later we received our food. I did not enjoy the chicken burger, as the chicken was quite dry and avocado hard, but I’ve eaten worse. Also, I’ve had to ask for my dessert, which I ordered at the same time as my main, twice before it arrived and it tasted good but I’ve never seen a smaller portion of a pie for 4£. Overall, the place looks lovely and the drinks are great, but the food and the service was horrible, even tho I respect the waiter for putting up with me when I was starving. I don’t think I’ll be back or maybe just for the drinks, because they are the only thing worth coming back for.

First time visiting church on the hill on Saturday to watch the Scotland wales rugby game and it did not disappoint. Considering how busy the place was, it still had a very welcoming atmosphere, especially for people who are not locals! …and its dog friendly, what’s not to love?! We were served at the bar straight away and shortly after managed to find a seat to relax and watch the game. Everyone was so friendly and in such good spirits, not to mention the bar and kitchen were still doing table service which was super fast so we didn’t have to move! Staff were polite and made sure we were sorted throughout the day/night. We tried some of the Scottish tapas and it was absolutely delicious! Just the kind of nibble you need when out for drinks with friends. I can’t wait to try the rest of the menu. We stayed until late and also got to hear some of the live music that was on which was really good! I will most definitely be back with friends and family to enjoy more of what this venue has to offer. Ticks all the boxes for me! Ps I loved the interior. It gave off a very clean and cozy yet stylish vibe. 10/10. Thank you (:

I had expected an actual roast dinner before arriving and looked forward to it all week; however, the menu noted the roast was within a Yorkshire pudding. Although the photo does look nice, unfortunately as everything had been soaked in gravy it was all soggy and the gravy was too rich for me. The beef wasn't the best quality and not something I would normally complain about, but there was also too much of it. The signs were there upon arrival and on exit not to get a roast though and in hindsight, should have noted these walking in. In a fairly busy restaurant, I spotted one other table having the roast with remaining tables having burgers and panini's. The other food did look nice and may be back, but won't be back for the roast.

Nice big place but one male member of staff could have been more helpful It was my first time in for years and was not informed of the way they do things I order drinks and lunch and paid for it at the bar , eager to get out in the sun and meet my friend sat chatting and a staff member informed us our drinks were at the bar not realising that we would not be served them I apologised I did not know it was done that way but asked if he would be able to bring them to us Anyway He replied with a very causal well I see if I can kinda way as if I was really putting him out so he brought the drinks and said oh if you having lunch you will need to go back inside again and collect your cutlery OK so again I didn't know that how they do that in there as I was not told that at the time I ordered the food Continued chatting to my friend and a few minutes the staff member brought my lunch he could have brought the cutlery with him as he knew I didn't have any and he also passed the cutlery So I had to get up again go for cutlery this may all sound very boring but this was not I good experience Then another member of staff approached the table and asked my friend has the drinks been paid for well ofcourse at the time the order was placed don't know what that was all about he said he was sent out to ask that question so I would not rush back as I felt no warmth for the staff I have 20 years experience in waiting on tables in my younger years ad I would bend over backwards to make customers feel welcome after all no customers no job I don't think that member of staff think like that maybe because its not his place and only works there I would want staff to treat the place and care about as if it was there place that the difference in good staff sorry for writing a book but I had...

Visited on 16th April with a friend, we didn't pre book as I thought it would be quiet and I was right (to a point). The young man from behind the bar showed us to the restaurant area. I didn't realise that we had walked across the kids play area and when we sat down I noticed that there were balls and books all over the floor. I don't think that the management had done a risk assessment as I think that this area should be partitioned off to prevent anyone falling and also to stop folk leaving bacteria from outside on the play area from dogs faeces as any children touching this and then their face it could result in blindness possibly. The girl who served was within a whisker of stepping on a kids book and that's an accident waiting to happen. We ordered fish and chips (friends choice) and a chicken cheeseburger/fries for myself, the order itself came pretty quickly and the fish and chips looked freshly made but I think that my meal apart from the fries had been cooked in advance. The chicken was OK but was overwhelmed by the batter and my whole meal was only warm. The atmosphere due to it being so quiet apart from the mums/babies day was pretty flat. On the whole I'm afraid it's went a wee bit downhill from my last visit. Note: thank you for the speedy reply. I did try calling the bar to address this issue personally 2 days later stating that there was a health and safety issue but no one answered my call just prior to opening time. The simple solution to the kiddies play area is to put a low level barrier up, No falls, toys in one place and No contamination...
