Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Scotland

Big fan of Costa. This store is clean and was operating under Covid-19 restrictions at the time of my visit. Masks on while in store and queueing. Full track and trace implemented, so that was good. Didn't have to queue too long. Knocked a star because I wasn't able to get either of my first choices for food and drink (out of stock/ingredients), and had to settle for something else. Inside store table arrangements just too close for comfort and so sat outside at one of the small tables on the patio next to store. Staff member sprayed, wiped and dried the seats and table for me and my wife before we sat down. Food was good and so were the coffees. Dirty tables floor and chairs and also the glass partitions had never been cleaned in the 2 wks I was in Kirkcaldy. I like the coffee and snacks but the whole experience was spoiled by the dirt. Sticky tables covered with cups and plates. I counted 11 tables like this when I was looking for a free table. The armchairs should be turfed as they are disgustingly dirty and not inviting to sit on. The staff thought it was ok to give us a soaking wet tray and then put napkins on it and give us a wet knife and have the cheek to say they are clean cos they just came out the dishwasher. This cafe is situated on the upper floor. The seating area was clean and tidy. We found a table easily ( Saturday 7th May late on in the afternoon) however, this does get busy at peak times especially during the weekend. There is take away available.The millionaire shortcake tasted nice. The girls who served us were polite, prompt and well presented and took the time to explain how to use the Costa app to use your rewards. I especially liked the way they thanked you for your custom and said goodbye as you left, well done the Costa staff customer service like that really makes a difference. The retail park outside has...
