Really been looking forward to the opening however been in 3 times and have been slightly disappointed. First time I was in on opening morning and asked for a flat white but they did not have milk, pretty perplexed by that as they had been open a few hours and could of sent someone out for some but it’s was the opening day so I wasn’t too concerned. On my 2nd visit I ordered a coffee and a sandwich. The girl on the till barely acknowledge me and said 2 mins whilst she was typing away on the till, she then proceeded after a couple of minutes to turn around and go and talk to another member of staff. I was in a bit of a rush for a meeting so didn’t appreciate the slow service, after finally being served I had to wait another 10 mins for my flat white that was more like a latte. On the 3rd visit I went in with my wife she wanted to have a browse (of the pretty great wine and beer selection) and get a soft drink. Again staff barley looked up and my wife waited for 5 mins to get served before we walked out despite there being hardly any other customers in the shop. It’s very frustrating as I so want to like this place and for it to do well but the service is frankly poor and the staff aren’t even friendly and seem disinterested which is a shame considering they’ve styled themselves as a neighbourhood provision store. I really hope this is just first week kinks...

A fantastically located deli/market hybrid with a range of options morning, noon and night.

My main issue with this great regular stop off on the trip home is the service.

Is it table? is it counter? or is it interchangeable depending on time of day/staff available?

An easy fix would be digital order at table for those outside with their bikes etc. or putting on a waiter/waitress who gathers orders while others deliver.

Having now sat here for 15 minutes unattended, I’ve given up on any lunch heading my way today, but that doesn’t change the fantastic food on offer which makes up the body of this reviews star rating.

Hopefully will be fixed as this new local grows and evolves.

outdoor seating is ideal in good weather easily accessible location great menu service

UPDATE after approaching the staff about ordering after 30 minutes, and pointing out I had been sat waiting and was keen to eat on my lunch break, I was met with nothing but contempt, and have revised my review to reflect the lack of interest in customer experience...

I have been visiting Cuku regularly since it opened.

Positive - It is a brilliant addition to the area. It looks lovely and has an interesting selection of snacks/wine and beers.

Anytime I've had food it's been lovely, I particularly enjoyed the chicken skewers.

Negative - The quality of breakfast rolls/produce. The sausage was poor quality and dry and the potato scone was rock hard. Could you use better local produce?

Pastries and Cakes - Anytime I've purchased anything baked - Victoria sponge, pain au chocolate, a croissant, a Copenhagen, they have been dry, lacking in flavour and in some cases over baked. (you can tell by the colour of the the baked goods) I would no longer purchase any baked goods if I'm in.

There are so many brilliant little independent bakeries out there who I'm sure could supply much more flavoursome, interesting cakes and pastries.

You could also improve the ambiance with some better background music rather than the lift like music that is normally played.

It's a great wee spot and just needs a few...

Waited 13 minutes to order and 10 more mins to receive a black coffee at 10:40-11:05am. Granted, it was busy but also understaffed. Poached eggs came cold and way undercooked, e.g., liquid whites. The sauce looked as if the finished dish had been sat in the kitchen for hours as it had formed a solid film. Feel sorry for the one person serving eat-in customers for indoor and outdoor seating AND the till whilst a manager-like person sat unbothered at a laptop on the serving floor. Server who asked me to pay at the till instead when i stood there waiting tried to serve people who had come to the till after me. Sadly, it is too conveniently located to avoid completely and has literally no competition.

Popped into Cuku and went for the Pastrami and Brie Focaccia, £6.50. Got it heated up and to take away. The mayo mustard added a nice tang, and the brie was a good pairing, but I think it could have done with more meat for a proper Reuben-style bite. The sandwich was a bit unevenly put together, so some bites were better than others. That said, it was a solid, quick and easy option that did the job - and for the price, I can’t complain too much. Wouldn’t rush back for a sandwich but I’d like to go back and get one of their charcuterie boards. Follow me on insta for more reviews: @Lewishere_lewisthere

CuKu has become a firm favourite; the food is always great but today's special was the best yet (and tbh there's been a lot of good food eaten here). I'm a fish lover (there is always a fish of the day option), plus fish on the main menu and also sometimes on the specials board. Today's special was this amazing SeaBream. However I could recommend almost everything on the menu. Not just a great dinner place but I can recommend breakfast lunch and coffee/cake servings. Last but definitely not least it's Dog friendly,
