A family lunch presented a welcome opportunity to visit Bothy. It is held in high regard for its Scottish cuisine and somewhat decadent interior. A niche I very much enjoy. Firstly the venue is nicely curated with lots of wood, mood lighting, tartans and curious artefacts. It’s upmarket but not in a stifling way. With a large group we were able to take a fairly large sweep of the menu. From risotto, lamb, fish and chicken everything was beautifully cooked and presented. Sides of triple cooked chips and broccoli with sriracha were not just an afterthought and tasted fantastic. Maybe not the heartiest of portions but the quality was there with aplomb. Top marks. My only bug bear would be the service. It’s a personal dislike to have numerous different waiting staff. Understandable at times when it’s very busy but on a fairly steady afternoon service it felt less personal to have numerous unnamed staff helping throughout the meal. But I’m also sure others would be less perturbed. All in all Bothy offers top class cooking at a moderate price level in comfortable surroundings. If I was to return it would be an evening service and maybe kept to a special occasion but with happy patrons on this visit it’s doing the important things right.

Came here on a double date with my girlfriend and my pal bad his wife. For starters we ordered the trio of fish, the Cullen skink with smoked butter, not sure how but the they ended up being out 2 Cullen skink, which was curdled and lumpy (it was more of a yogurt consistency) with mainly potatoes, the smoked butter was just plane butter. We hoped mains would be better. We were wrong. We ordered the duck, the lamb and the haggis, the haggis was again 90% potatoes a teeny seam of haggis at the bottom which was rather bland and dissapoting. The duck was dry and bland aswell, I have cooked much better duck at home from Aldi! The lamb was tough but tasty, but the "garlic mash" turned out not to have any garlic in whatsoever! All in all dissapointing after spending £140 we expected a lot more attention to detail and quality than what we got. With so much competition for high standard food, I won't be rushing back at any time soon. After all if you cant cook what you have written on the menu then why even have a menu. I would recommend trying somewhere else for the money!

I went here for the Burns night with a friend and it was a spectacular evening, the atmosphere was wonderful, the staff were really good and attentive. The food was great but not to the standard I would have expected for a higher end restaurant. I loved the haggis, neeps and tatties though the ham hock & lentil soup was just OK. The cranachan cheesecake was quite nice. My friend loved her salmon starter though felt the sticky toffee pudding was a bit heavy. She also thought the haggis was delicious. The whisky flight was very good value for money considering the price of the bottles, I had the Isles one and would recommend it. We also had a few bottles of red wine, the cheaper ones tasted better than the more expensive bottle. I'd definitely go back but would try other options on the menu along with another whisky flight 😀

Imagine dining at your rich, slightly eccentric rich aunts estate house, with some eclectic items thrown in, a world class chef on staff and a bar that makes the best Gin & Tonic you have had. Yep, that’s Bothy in Glasgow. Brightly wallpapered, with a hodge podge of chairs at the tables. It’s comfortable with a slightly formal air. The menu is a mix of classics and some new creations. The Goat Cheese starter was excellent and the Loin of wild deer was perfect. We both enjoyed a perfect G&T and their wine list offered a number of options to suit any taste. Be sure to look at the private room upstairs and be prepare for the wallpaper in the restroom. This was one of our top dining experiences on the trip and we would certainly come back again.

we went based on the rating after the graduation of a good friend to Bothy. Based on the first impression, we had some high expectations maybe. Looking at the rather limited lunch option I went for the burger. so the easy lunch, but again a good restaurant proof quality preparing simple things good. the uuuhhh we are fancy and put brie on top doesnt help if you use a cheap meat patty which has the consistency of a snow tire. Service was quick and friendly, its also kind of nice inside, I just dont like the tables in front of the entrance door, and everybody coming in is walking around me. I really did enjoy the shandy...

We ate here for dinner. It was OKAY. We started with the bread with miso and sage butter, pumpkin seed oil, and white gastrique. This was DELICIOUS. We also ordered the olives to start. These were not delicious. Lol they were very briney and just had an odd flavor. For my main, I ordered the venison loin - it was pretty good! My partner ordered the ribeye steak and he didn't enjoy it. The decor is really nice and the service was great. Overall, we'll give Bothy Glasgow another shot, but we won't rush back. Note for vegans: they have a full vegan menu. Be sure to request it!
