Kilmarnock Road Branch - Newlands/Shawlands. I have been coming to this place for years, my best friend knows the owners well and we visit at least once a week - this will be the last time! Came in this morning, said good morning to the staff member taking my order. The place was pretty noisy, so gave my order - she obviously didnāt hear me so with a stinking attitude and a bothered face she asked again which I repeated and was happy to do with an āI know itās pretty noisy todayā. She then glowered at me from behind the counter, I was genuinely gobsmacked as hadnāt even finished giving my order and I could see she wasnāt happy and couldnāt get away from the till. I actually said to her that there must have been something bothering her as her attitude was making me feel uncomfortable she then proceeded to play the victim, started crying and left me standing at the till. The manager then appeared to pacify her as though I was the problem customer - I know how to treat people with respect and always have! Then the male from the back came out and started giving me attitude! I will be making a few phone calls tonight thatās for sure! Manager at the end said that they pride themselves in dignity and respect - then I think she needs to speak to her staff sharpish. I have gone in as I always have to receive the service I so often get and have left feeling as though Iāve ruined someoneās day when I challenge my treatment by their staff member. The staff member told me that they would bring it to the table but I didnāt want a glass, I just wanted my bottle of water. The staff member informed me that I wasnāt allowed to have the bottle as itās against their policy and also said that my water had to come in a glass. I asked if I could take the bottle without the glass and have a straw with it and they again informed me it was against the rules. The bottle was then taken away with my order and it wasnāt given to me, instead I was given a glass (which probably contained tap water) with ice cubes. The branch staff admitted that the issue was theirs, confirmed that the contactless payments had been processed in error and highlighted that this would be resolved. Further discussion with their Area Director confirmed that my proof of payment by banking app was insufficient, that they required copies of my bank statements and even highlighted that they needed this information due to potential card fraud on my part!
