Fast 'N' Fresh - Kirkcaldy — Restaurant in Scotland

A bit of a backstory, getting up at 4 am that day with a newborn baby makes any day difficult... I got to Fast n Fresh at about 10am after not having a chance to get breakfast after getting the baby and myself ready that morning and ordered a mouth watering Chicken and Bacon Mayo Roll with Lettuce & Hot Sauce.

I proceed to make my way over to the till with my debit card at the ready, visible for all to see... The roll get's put through the till at £2.20 or whatever it was to be told that minimum spend is £5 on the card... WHAT NONSENSE IS THIS?? it's 2018, why is this even a thing?

So, we blankly stare one another out and I say that i'm not going to buy £5 worth of stuff for a £2 roll! I ask for the local ATM to get money as i'm not from Kirkcaldy and very rarely make my way to this end of town. I don't even get a response just a shrug. The staring continues... I then say well i'll just need to leave the roll that's already been made. I then walk out.

There was 2 possible outcomes of that situation, 1) give me the roll that's been made to order for free & I then sign your praises and would defo go back, 2) do what your assistant done, stood awkwardly and offered no assistance and probably binned my mouthwatering masterpiece of a roll.

I'd like to finish by saying there where no signs let alone obvious signs suggesting there was a £5...

Baguettes are decent, although they no longer serve the curry fillings which were there main attraction. The staff on the other hand, are absolutely horrendous. It actually seems as though being lazy and miserable are the 2 main attributes they look for when hiring. Today was the second time I have been refused hot food at 2:30pm. Hot plate should be in operation untill 3pm which the staff are aware but because she had already wiped it down she litterally refused to use it again. The shop was dead and this is the second time pure laziness has stopped me from getting the meal i wanted. I did ask for management but was told nobody was available and she would pass on the message about staff (herself) being too lazy to serve the customers. Of course it’s no secret that F&F staff are dreadful but today I was genuinely astonished by such a brazen example of...

Used to be good. Everytime you go now it’s a new untrained 16 year old that dosnt wanna be there. Went here for years. Last 4 times the orders been wrong and I’ve had to listen to hungover children talk about their night out rather than make my sandwich. Everytime you check the app they say hot food is unavailable bet then turn up in the store and they are preparing hot food. It’s apparent the staff don’t want to use the hot plate and only make rolls. Has been like this for years. Like I said used to be good, waste of time...
