We dined in this restaurant, had a lovely meal and were served by a wonderful server, unfortunately I didn't get her name. The problems started when I paid for the meal. I used my card, entered my pin number and it was declined. The server explained that the WiFi in the restaurant wasn't great and that was probably what had caused it. I advised the server I was going to check my online banking before i made any further payments and when I did it showed that the payment had been taken. I showed my online banking screen to our server who said she would go and speak to her manager. She returned a few minutes later explaining that it still had to be paid, at this point I asked to speak to the manager myself as I was not going to pay for the meal twice, also apologising to the young server as this was not her fault, she was only relaying a message back. The manager who came to speak to us was Ross, who tried to explain that the transaction had been declined as it was a ghost payment. I told Ross there was no such thing as a ghost payment. I proceeded to show Ross my online banking screen to show him that the payment had indeed gone through. He then leaned over the table, raised his voice and shouted in front of what was a very busy restaurant ( by which time people were starting to look over) that the "BILL MUST BE PAID!" To avoid further embarrassment to myself and my friend, I reluctantly paid again, stating that as soon as I walked out of the door I would be calling my bank to stop the payment. My bank stated that there is no such thing as a "ghost payment" and that the payment had indeed been authorised twice. They have since stopped one. Myself and my friend had had a wonderful evening up until that point, but felt belittled and degraded by the way Ross has treated us. He did nothing to resolve the situation and treated us like petty criminals trying to scam a free meal, even though we had proof we had paid. The fact that we had to pay a second time after already proving that payment had been made has disgusted me. Neither myself nor my friend will be dining in any of your establishments again due to the attitude and arrogance of one "manager". We await your response...
Read moreI weny here with my daughter for lunch on 12 Aug 2014. Nice looking place and I've eaten here dozens of times and enjoyed it. The salt n pepper calamari is amazing. This time I ordered bolognese and asked if I could have it with tagliatelli pasta. I was told they didn't do tagliatelli? No problem I just ordered spaghetti. The waitress informed me that I could have chips with it as they were incuded in the quick lunch deal but I didn't want chips. My daughter had Hawaiin Pizza. Both these dishes were on 'special' one course £6.95. We both had a glass of draught Pepsi too (£2.50 a glass). Our meals arrived and I could not believe what was put down to me. Plate of spaghetti with about 2 tablespoons of watery sauce. I tried to push on and not complain but after 3 forkfulls I was left with a plate of spaghetti and no sauce. The waitress noticed I wasn't eating and asked if everything was ok. I told her I had virtually no sauce and she kindly took my plate and returned it with a further couple of spoonfulls of watery sauce. I really tried to persevere but it was similar, no worse than, an Asda budget frozen meal. I failed and could eat no more. When I asked for the bill I was asked if I enjoyed my meal. I politely said that it was the worst bolognese I had ever tasted. The Manager arrived and I explained the situation to her. She asked if I had ever had bolognese. I explained maybe over a thousand times. She asked 'In here?' I told her yes but not for a while. She said she would inform the suppliers and would take 50% off that meal (I only ate 25%). That was ok. I was then given the bill charging us both for our meals from the A La Carte menu (nearly double the price). I asked about this and was told that I didn't have chips so was charged according to the more expensive menu which does not include chips. You need to take the chips to get the discount I presume!!! Honestly I am not making this up. They also charged my daughters pizza at the dearer price too, presumeably so it didn't feel left out??? I am really disappointed...
Read moreA friend and I popped in here tonight for a bite to eat. Despite there being an abundance of empty tables, we were asked to wait at the bar. That wasn't an issue. The person that served us was pleasant and accommodating. We have no issue there either. The food though? We ordered two classicbeef burgers with fries. The lettuce was the main taste when eating the burger and had to be smothered with ketchup to make it palatable. It wasn't a lettuce burger, it was a beef burger and tasteless. The fries were the kind of broken fries you get at the bottom of a bag of farmfoods cheap fries. To top it off, there was a tiny amount and mostly consisted of shards My wife was on a late shift, so I ordered a cheese pizza to take away for her. When it came to the table in a tape sealed box I decided to open it given the state of the burger and fries. I'm glad I did. There was nothing to it, it resembled a chapati with a scraping of cheese to it. This was to be £13 odds. I spoke with our server and asked if it was discounted given that it was a takeaway. She said no, it was full price. I informed her that it wasn't worth £13, it was poor. She agreed to return it. Overall this was disappointing. The food was terrible quality and tasteless cheap frozen reheats. There was no atmosphere to rate. Again, the service was fine and was reflected in the £5 tip my friend left. Neither of us will be returning to any frankie and bennies again in the future. Once...
