Pretty cool little chippy, it's on a boat! takeaway downstairs and restaurant upstairs (there is a lift)

Pretty quiet when I went - on a Thu afternoon (29th sep) the staff were so miserable. 1 was out the way but didn't smile or say hello. Our waitress, said sit here, gave us like 5 minutes before taking our order. So when we got our drinks over the girl bashed the glass into the table and spilled some juice over the table (and over my wife) she wiped and said sorry and gave us the glass of juice...which hadn't been refilled. At most we saw 4 tables being full at once so it was very quiet.

Food - steak pie is lovely and decent portion, chips are standard chippy chips and peas were rather watery. My haddock was incredibly soft, like it was fried and sat under a hot plate for 10 mins, wasn't crispy in the slightest. Again standard chips but no mushy peas? The batter was nice but would have preferred for it be more fresh. Dried up lemon. And forgot about the tea that comes with the fish - did get it eventually.

Then we asked for a desert menu, she came over 5minutes later and asked if we had chose anything - 'We are still waiting on the menu so haven't decided on anything' - so get the menu, decide on nothing. Got up and went to pay, then got asked so you not having anything? Ehhh no, we are standing waiting to pay.

Price - sitting in - was like £9 for steak pie and just under £13 for fish. Not really worth it for the fish. No wonder it says under the steak pie fast becoming 1 of the favourites.

I would have rated 2 but I have been a couple times before and staff/food was...

It was ok I suppose considering it was my first time being in mcmonagles for at least two years but, it was the same old story when it came to the chips on my plate, the chips were awful, I must have left about half of them, I pointed this out to the girl who asked how was our meal ((( my wife and I ))) the girl was fantastic, she wanted to bring me some fresh chips to make up for the bad ones but I politely declined the offer as it was not the girls fault that the chips weren't up to scratch but, I have complained about this very same thing in the past ((( that's why I have not been back for such a long time))) ok the past 12/14 months was down to covid but, you would think that would have given them time to rectify this ((( start by buying a better product of potato ))) even if it means that it would cost a £1 more i wouldn't mind paying it, is it too much to ask for, I will be looking forward to my next visit to see if there is any improvement ((( if not, then I'm afraid that I won't be going back to my favourite place for my fish and chips anymore, sorry.))) As things are far too expensive in this day and age to be wasting money on bad food, so come on mcmonagles, it's over to you now, I know you can do it for your...

We went here today and was very disappointed. We asked for 2 cans of coke. I watched the girl pour draughty cokes from the machine and bring them to our table. I said to the girl that we asked for cans of coke and she replied these are from cans we are not allowed to bring the cans to the table. This was a blatant lie to my face as I saw her do it. Later another family at the table asked for iron bru and asked if it was draugh . The woman said to her that they only have cans of iron bru and they don’t have iron bru on draugh. They proceeded to fill the glasses with draugh iron bru, again another blatant lie, I watched them do it. Not happen at the way they lie to customers. We’d also asked for sauces for our fish and chips and they were not brought to us. Not a very enjoyable experience. Will certainly not be going back or...

First time in a long time since we had visited the boat for some food and it did not disappoint. We where greeted by 2 servers who where great throughout and kept our boy company chit chatting. We had fish and chips, chicken burger with bacon, jalapeƱo, hash browns, spicy mayo and chips, kids pizza and chips with diluting juice and icecream. All the food was great as expected. We dined just after midday on a week day and it was not busy. We will be back again next time we are around the Clydebank area.

I wanted to try here because of all the good reviews, and I wasn’t totally disappointed. My wife loved her chicken sandwich and the gravy she ordered for her chips. My kids loved their food and ice cream. I absolutely cherished the haggis fritters. They were incredibly good and perfectly prepared. I just have to admit, I really disliked my fish and chips. The fish was very rubbery and had a not so fresh taste. I couldn’t finish it.
