Please note that the photographs in this review show the old menu. Unfortunately, since The Junkyard has changed ownership, it has lost much of the charm and character that once made it a standout. The place isn’t just lacking in quality anymore. It’s the entire vibe, identity, and atmosphere that have taken a dive.

Under the previous ownership, The Junkyard felt like a true gem. The owner’s genuine passion for craft beer and the unique menu helped create a space with a real sense of identity. One of the key aspects of that identity was the varied Crackbird chicken range, which has now been reduced to a single item on the menu. The new menu feels like a shadow of what it once was, confused and directionless, unsure whether it wants to be an Asian restaurant or a Western pub.

To make matters worse, their website still shows the old menu, and there has been no update or acknowledgment of the changes. I can’t find any mention anywhere of The Junkyard having changed ownership, nor have I seen any indication that they intend to turn it into an Asian restaurant. This lack of transparency and communication from the new owners leads me to believe they are not interested in keeping customers informed or maintaining the vibe that made The Junkyard special.

What made The Junkyard special, the character, the vibe, the overall experience, has been lost. Unfortunately, what The Junkyard once represented no...

Momos is charming and intimate restaurant and cocktail bar that exudes warmth and character. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between cosy and refined, offering a delightful setting for a relaxed meal or evening drink.

My visit began with the soup of the day — a vibrant, freshly-prepared tomato soup crafted by chef Adam. Delicately infused with basil and a well-judged blend of seasoning, it was a flavourful and comforting start. This was followed by a BBQ and bacon burger, served with a tasteful garnish. The beef was clearly fresh, expertly seasoned, and complemented by a buttery, crisp seeded bun that added just the right amount of texture.

To finish, I indulged in an Oreo sundae, served in a beautifully presented cocktail glass — a playful and satisfying end to the meal that left me content. Price was very agreeable too.

The service was another delight. Drinks were served promptly and with genuine warmth by Rebecca, whose attentiveness and friendly nature elevated the experience. Rebecca is a treasure to the customer service of the business.

In all, this hidden gem in Hamilton is a welcoming escape with quality food, great service, and a laid-back atmosphere. Highly...

Booked at table for Half 6 for 4 people. Never got our ordered taken until 7.10 ordered 3 waters, cola, pint and 2 cocktails. The cocktails never appeared after being told they were just getting made. Around 50 minutes later I went to the bar and told them we didn’t receive our cocktails yet and the girl didn’t even know we had ordered them, she said they’d be there soon. She then appeared at the table and told us the cocktails were taken off the bill but would we will a drink on the house.. I asked her why didn’t bring the cocktails out and she couldn’t answer me. At this point the food had just came out 1hour later. Chips on all meals freezing and hard. One burger was wrong so set it back and then it was wrong a second time.we then got told they were short staffed. I feel bad for the girls working behind the bar as I know it personally wasn’t their fault but they should have told people when turning up oh it’s going too be a long wait for food as we are short in the kitchen to then allow customers to decide if they want to stay or not. Overall very...

Been in a couple times the first being a few months ago. First time our order was wrong (ordered a sharing chicken platter). We got a similar platter which we were told cost more (but we would be charged for the cheaper one) but it wasn’t what we ordered - we didn’t want a platter with bones which is the one we were given. Probably should’ve made a bigger fuss but we were on a tight time schedule and it would’ve been a waste. Most recent visit (month or so ago) there was a very limited menu (for some reason). Got a burger, waitstaff suggested cheese (didn’t tell me that slice of cheese cost £2.50 😅 what a joke). The burger was fine but a pretty small sad specimen, same for the wee cup of chips. Friendly staff but not good value for money and I won’t be back.

We visited tonight, very poor service, took forever to get our order, our drinks and then our food, the portions are extremely small, the trio of burgers very underwhelming, a small cup of chips. The Mac and cheese balls very greasy, the vimto cocktail had no sign of vimto at all, the lemon bon bon wasn't too bad, the waiter spilled my pint over my arm and my mobile, we also had a dog sat beside us you should be asking or informing customer due to allergens! We also did not get asked how our meals was. The waiter needs more attention to detail and customer service as it was non existent. I wouldn't be back!
