Newlands Cafe — Restaurant in Scotland

The quality of the Lorne is often disappointing I’m sure I remember getting decent lorne from here in the past but have been using Brooklyn cafe most weeks for months now because of a few bad experiences with newlands cafe lorne.

Very thinly sliced (not what lorne should be!) I wonder if they’re skimping on costs and just buying in basically super market lorne? Or if they’re slicing the stuff they get in the butcher in half. Either way it always ends up getting very lost in the Roll and ending up a bit too crunchy/chewy.

I ordered today to confirm my past experiences and sure enough, more disappointment. I want to love newlands cafe, please sort out your lorne and you’ll find me ordering a whole lot more. Lorne from literally any butcher in the Southside is good enough. When paying more than a couple quid for a slice roll, a customer should expect butcher quality I believe!

My family have been using this cafe since I was 3 years old when it opened in 1973. It is a huge part of my childhood and I always make some purchases whenever I pass as I would hate to go by one day and discover it gone! The Italian cafes, such as this one are such an important part of the fabric of Glasgow as well. They make the most amazing ice cream, which once tried, will ensure you never buy ice cream from the supermarket again! They have all your favourite childhood sweets too which are sold by the 'quarter' and care put into the little white paper bags we all remember from childhood. And a selection of take hot and cold rolls. All affordable too. The family who run it are so lovely and welcoming too. Please don’t expect your food to arrive if you have ordered from just eat, i placed an order through just eat 2 hours ago for our food and it has yet to come, I have since phoned Newlands cafe and was told to contact them through just eats live chat, after trying this and it not working I tried to contact the shop back and conveniently there phone has been turned off. I have gave this a 1 star across all sections including food, I couldn’t actually tell you how the food is at this cafe as it never arrived. I did try to cancel this order once it reached the hour and a half mark with the expected time slowly creeping into the late hours of the afternoon but it wasn’t letting me do so on the...
