• Desert Burnt Cheesecake with Mango and Passion Fruit coulis.
• Time - Fast service was in there for a couple of hours for dinner. (Eating for 4 lol)
• Presentation - see pics.
• Quality - 5/5 - there's so much to talk about about, alot of care was put into these dishes from the kitchen. I couldn't fault any dish. The burnt cheesecake was fantastic and was delicious. The chicken wings were crispy and fresh. I was very surprised about the Stir-Fried Morning Glory. Usually I don't do salad but the sauce on this was amazing.
• Quantity - 5/5 - there were loads. The portion sizes were what you would expect for the money. We went a bit overboard with the ordering (2 of us) but got to try some excellent authentic dishes.
• Value for money - very good, £97 for all that which is essentially a meal for 4. Definitely recommend.
• Additional - great service and the staff were friendly. Shout out to the staff who made sure we were well fed and watered and also to Benjewan (I hope that's the right spelling) the owner (Rob's) wife who moved over from Thailand in the 90's and is very passionate about her cheesecake lol The atmosphere was also great for a Friday night. Great restaurant,...
Read moreI approached The Thai Bar and Restaurant with optimistic expectations, largely driven by the plethora of high reviews this place boasts. However, my experience did not meet those high expectations.
The food here left a lot to be desired in terms of authenticity and flavor. As someone who is familiar with Thai cuisine, I found the dishes rather lackluster. The chicken used in both the pad Thai and the masaman curry appeared to be boiled separately from the rest of the dish, resulting in a bland, flavorless experience that was not up to par with authentic Thai cooking.
Service was mediocre at best. While the staff was cordial, they failed to inform us that the card machine was out of order until the bill arrived, causing us to scramble for cash at the last minute. A heads-up about such issues can go a long way in shaping a guest's experience, and it's a bit unfortunate that the restaurant fell short in this aspect. I've noticed the ”broken card machine" situation seems to be a common trend in some places like this 😉 😉, but if that's the case, it's essential to keep customers informed.
All in all, my experience at The Thai Bar and Restaurant was a disappointment. It's not a place I'd readily recommend if you're looking for authentic Thai flavors and proactive customer service. I hope the restaurant takes these criticisms as areas to improve upon for a better dining experience...
Read moreHaving a sudden desire to have a Happy Friday dinner with my kids, we reserved this Thai restaurant just one hour earlier online. I believe a good restaurant must be very busy that I don’t make a call to disturb. Just go straight and see we are lucky to have a table or not. The staff is patient and professional that he combined two tables to form a table for 4. Since we are too busy that we didn’t eat anything for lunch, the staff must feel strange about how large our appetite was😂😂😂 Springs rolls and fish cakes (4pieces, too hungry that we ate two already before I remember to take a photo) the sauce of the fish cake is great. That’s Thai style. A bit spicy but it should be spicy enough to taste like Thai. Papaya salad is what we think it is. The coconut soup is refreshing.
Green Curry with chicken is the best favour to remind me of a Thai dish with 3 peppers on the menu, cucumber in the curry is a good replacement for the Thai green tomato. Love it most. 👍 pineapple fried rice is ok that a bit different to normally we have in HK, not quite sure is it that sticky in Thailand 🇹🇭, as every time we went to Thailand, we eat something else. But happy that it’s the best Thai food we ever had in Glasgow.
Definitely will try the grill and desert next time if we have longer time. No need to rush back home. I believe most of the chefs are Thai and they do cook with...
