One of the best Kebabs I've ever eaten! I'm lucky enough to travel all over the UK and Europe with my career and my job has landed me here in Stranraer for just a couple of nights today. Tonight, I didnt fancy eating at the hotel so took the short walk to Starfish which is just around the corner. Initially, I was tempted in by the fish and chips but changed my mind whilst I was looking at the menu and went for a Large Mixed Kebab instead. I Have eaten Kebabs in every corner of the globe including Cyprus, Greece and Turkey, but I can honestly tell you this is up there with the best. The doner meat is proper and of good quality, the chicken was equally good and the added touch of tossing the meat with green peppers and onion lifts the dish to a whole new level. The garlic mayo was insane, it tasted more like a mix of garlic yoghurt and garlic mayo but it was very good and tastes like it was most likely made fresh in house. Instead of a pitta you get a wrap on top which I thought was a great touch as it leaves more room for meat and salad. Coleslaw was just as good as the garlic mayo yoghurt and the salad was fresh and cold. Service is great and staff are very friendly. I will be coming back!! Highly recommend. Thanks guys for a lovely meal.

Tried this place today. I was really hungry and so fish and chips it was. When I walked into the chip shop no one was there and I stood for a good few minutes looking around thinking will someone come or should I go? After a few minutes I did notice a member of staff sat in a small room at the far back end of the shop and at last I caught her attention. I ordered one large fish and chips and one portion of chips. Asking you do take card I was told no it’s cash only even tho I could swear I saw a chip and pin card reader, but never mind I just about had enough cash with me. The service was ok, not great but just ok. The chips were a mixture of under cooked chips, hard and very dry chips to bad potato’s cooked anyway into disgusting looking chips with the odd few that were actually ok. The fish was NOT FRESH FISH at all, the batter was hard in fact I’d say really hard and the fish its self was just not very tasty at all. It had quite a not appealing taste. Certainly not my best fish and chips and quite close to hitting my top 3 of worse fish and chips. Needless to say I won’t be eating from here again.

Currently staying in Stranraer on business. Needed something away from the hotel food (bloody expensive) and after exiting Tesco Express I saw this place right opposite. Having coeliac disease I need to be careful so I did highlight this to the chap behind the counter and he said he could make me a nice Gluten Free cod and chips. Sounded good to me so took a seat and waited for me grub. Called me up and took a stroll back to the hotel. Opened up and still red hot. The only negative thing I have got to say and the reason for 4 stars is it would have been better to have left the fish drain off for a couple of minutes and let the batter crisp up. The food itself was really good and the fish was full of flavour. I will be returning tomorrow evening for my last meal in Stranraer. Would definitely recommend this little gem. Place looked spotlessly clean and in a great location.

Oh dear lord, what a terrible place. Firstly, the floor is all badly damaged and screwed down in places. It needs replacing. Then comes the food! I say food, but then again, it's not edible, so I can't call it that. Husband ordered battered sausage and chips. The chips were white! I've never seen cooked chips so anaemic before. Sausage is really poor quality. Then came my chicken burger. Again, it certainly wasn't chicken. Some weird processed patty made to look like chicken. The kind of thing Jamie Oliver campaigned against getting thrown off menus, the poor quality frozen mulch made to resemble chicken. Even the bacon didn't look right. Needless to say, we didn't bother eating them. I know it's a chippy and I'm not expecting Michelin Star Food, but an actual chicken breast, battered and in a roll is all that's needed for a good chicken burger! Sorry, but avoid this place if you want...
