We hadn't booked but were advised to come back in half an hour - not a problem as there's surrounding bars. We asked if they needed our details to secure the table but were advised it was not necessary. Upon returning, the table planned for us had been given to a group of 9 men resulting in us having to wait another half an hour. Sadly the staff were rude, curt with their service and non apologetic for the wait. I can only assume this was the result of them being busy. We were eventually seated at 9.10pm with a 10pm COVID curfew. There were no poppadoms left and we knew there was not enough time for us to enjoy a starter. We had the chicken tikka bhuna and the chilli masala - both dishes tasted exactly the same! The chilli masala had one green chilli present and the equivalent of 3 whole garlic cloves sliced and mixed through - not pleasant. The rice was the best part of the meal - light and fluffy. Although this was overlooked due to the manner in which it was "placed" on the table. We had 15 minutes to eat our meal before 10pm - the police attended telling the proprietor he had 15 mins to empty the premises. No apologies from the staff for mismanaging the situation with some tables having to accept their meals as take away. Food mediocre at best, service appalling, choice of drinks basic. I do...
Read moreNote to Indian or Indians by origin: Please do not attempt to go to this place. There is a strong visible bias not to entertain Indians or Indians by origin. The manager or the person taking the food orders made it very clear that this is not food that Indians are used to. In fact asked how long have we been in UK. Not sure what the intent was. We did not know that this place has a strict policy of a minimum food value (about £14/person). When we started ordering two items, the manager promptly cut us in middle of the conversation and said please read the last page to see the terms and conditions. It’s on the bottom right corner on the last page of the menu. If they are so particular about it, they should print it on top of the menu on the cover. Why keep it at the back when you are so strict and particular about it. We said that we will order later based on how we feel after having the first couple of dishes. We were not hungry to have food ordered extra and then thrown away. But we were told that we need to order everything in one single order only. The whole attitude was so unfriendly and unhospitable that it wasn’t worth staying. We had to walk out since we don’t believe in wasting food. The restaurant needs to look at their etiquettes and soft skills. No wonder the reviews are not...
Read moreI am giving 1 star as I can't give 0 stars. My experience at the Taj Mahal restaurant was nothing short of a nightmare. From the moment my friends and I walked in, we were greeted by the rudest manager I have ever encountered. He was a bald man with his complete lack of professionalism and hospitality. He talked to my female friend so rudely that I felt like slapping him right at that moment. Upon arrival, we asked for a table for 6 people and we could see that there was a table available, but he told us that it would "become congested" if we sat there. If it was so why the table is present there in the first place, just remove tables where you would feel like it would become congested!!!!!! It was an utterly disrespectful and frustrating experience. It serves Indian food but its an Bangladeshi Restaurant because believe me guys, Indian people are not this rude. It's a shame that such a beautiful establishment is marred by the presence of such an inhospitable individual. I strongly advise anyone seeking a pleasant dining experience to steer clear of this establishment until they address their management issues and ensure a more welcoming atmosphere for...
