It really upsets me to leave a bad review for this place because its been a firm favorite for years but my last 2 experiences were terrible especially yesterday's. The first was on Tuesday night, my friends booked us a table for my birthday most of the dinner went well, everyone seemed to enjoy the food, the disappointments were their menu change and the fact my cheesesauce on my vegan meal was very cold and spoilt the meal, we also ordered dessert and were annoyed to be told 20 minutes after we ordered it that they only had 2 cheesecakes left when we had ordered 3, and then another 15 minutes to get it, this would of been forgiven if they were busy but they really were not at all and we only ordered ice-cream, 2 cheesecakes and an affegato. The next time we came back on the Sunday, we had hoped to make breakfast but due to our own complications we never arrived until 11.55 am. When we arrived we were told we had to wait 5 minutes to order, they never asked if we wanted breakfast or lunch it was disappointing but that was okay. The real problem for me was they completely ignored us for that 5 minutes they never gave us menus or asked for a drinks order they just continued to wipe tables, the biggest problem for me is the fact the chef served normal mushrooms when the menu stipulated king oyster mushrooms (I used to run a kitchen so i know), I never complained because not once did the waitresses come over to check things were OK, they were too busy staring out the window ignoring the customers. My friends both had roast beef that was very over cooked and dry. I did eat the mushrooms which were very greasy and not nice. When we were finished we sat for ages waiting for someone to clear the table so we could settle the bill, eventually we had to shout someone over as no one was coming they were leaning on the bar doing nothing. When we got our bill I was disgusted to see a service charge on the bill. I honestly don't agree with this as service staff get decent pay and the tip should be a choice reflecting the service you receive which I was definitely not giving as I really don't think it was at all deserved. This has greatly upset me and I don't think I'll be back again. I'm local and we usually come in in groups of at least 5+ and we spend a good amount. I'm not normally someone to complain or write a bad review but this is ridiculous, who does a refurbishment and makes the...

Cute place, shadowed by the longest wait, and dazzlingly disorganized service. Food was OK, but well, let start at the beginning. As we tried to book a table (in person, two days ago), we learned that Cuan Mor only takes walk-ins, unless the party has more than 6 people. Ok, so we tried our luck today. And indeed, a pleasant surprise, we swiftly got a table. Our drink and food order was taken shortly, however, once the drinks got poured, they were waiting abandoned at the bar as we oggled them longingly. As we finally got the drinks 10 minutes later, we were still in high spirits. Another 10 minutes passed until our server returned with a bad news: they ran out of brisket for my husband so alternitve choice had to be made. Well, the choice was made, however it took quite some time for the server to return and take the new order. As we waited for the next half an hour to receive our food (both orders were fairly simple - Tacos and Smoked meat platter), we observed our surroundings with interest. The kind servers were scurrying around looking often rather lost and exasperated. Several people got their food but had to wait for cuttlery while the food was getting cold. It would have been a bit amusing if it wasn't rather worrisome. Once the food arrived, I realized that my tacos contain onions which I cannot eat as they cause me migraines. This was unfortunately not specified on the menu, otherwise I would have asked for alternatives. As I got to re-assembling my tacos (I really did not want to risk another Iong wait) we received 3 servings of fries. Having ordered only one, we assumed fries come with each dish as well. It turns out not, as we learned upon receiving the bill. Or to be exact upon going to the bar to pay, to avoid further wait. While the food was OK, this was certainly a uniquely frustrating experience, the first such in our Scotland trip so far. I hope that this lovely place in a scenic location finds a way to live up to its potential to increase the satisfaction of...

Not what it used to be… I usually don’t leave a negative review but will this time in hopes they up their game for the future.

Had a lunch visit last weekend. We ordered starters and a main. However a few minutes after our starters were delivered, an older gentleman running the floor came to our table to say we were given someone else’s dishes (same as our order). We explained we had already began eating them, but he stood there staring and waiting for us to hand them back, as though he’d deliver them to the right table anyway. MAJOR violation in health and safety codes. We also witnessed three other tables with various issues around us. We were never checked on, never offered more water or drinks, rushed to order, had to track someone down for a bill, etc.

The starters were fine. The seafood platter was boring and not at all the caliber we’ve experienced here in the past. Absolutely not worth the price compared to what other local spots are providing at a similar price point.

Furthermore the music completely killed any hope for ambiance. Bad radio pop is very out of place and distracting there.

We were so disappointed as we’ve eaten here many times over the years and always LOVED it. We also recommend it frequently. Sad to say it would take a lot for us to try it again in the future.

(Also my husband and I have worked in the service industry most our lives. We know busy tourist seasons can take a toll, but this gentleman and the restaurant as a whole really dropped the ball...

The atmosphere was really nice. The wait staff was kind and attentive. That was the best part to this restaurant. I gave those a 5 ⭐️ each. And for the food I gave 3⭐️ the food was okay. I had what they call Chicago style ribs. Never heard of that before. There’s Baby Back ribs, spare ribs, and country style ribs. Some call spare ribs St. Louis style or some might them Kansas City style ribs. In their description they call them baby back ribs. These ribs were more like a spare ribs in my opinion. Not meaty like what baby back ribs are in the U.S., The ribs were a little dry and tuff. I still ate them and didn’t make a big deal about it. So they were just okay. The beans were good but not great. The coleslaw was a disappointment (it just didn’t taste right). The French Fries were good. Overall the meal was okay. But I will say I thought the wait staff did well, and they were kind and attentive. My overall rating would be 4 ⭐️’s. And that’s Because of the kind wait staff. Honestly I might try eating here again before I leave in a few days… but will have something else because the ribs were a disappointment. I just wanted to try something else because I’ve been eating mostly seafood. But it’s a really nice place. Seems clean and well decorated!

Visited again on 01/01/24 with friends. Very short of staff FOH and they remained polite and did their best. We waited 1 hour for food but it was ok. The burger 🍔 my friend had was a really cheap Pattie and dry..the burger looked like it had signed up to a new year weight loss plan...little cheese or anything else. My special Chicken dish was fine although the portion was quite small but it was only £13.00. We enjoyed the company and watched countless potential diners turned away from empty tables due to the staffing challenges. Hopefully they'll get it sorted before the season and beef up their quality on burgers. I'd probably go to Gelatoburger (also owned by same company) but better burgers. ********************* Cuan Mhor is one of the more popular, quality eats in Oban. It's owned by the Sloane Ranger as is half the town these days but this one is a decent shout for mid range dining. It's very busy at peak times and it's located centrally opposite the Bay. We enjoyed our food (Venison Pie 🥧 , Flat Iron Steak 🥩 & frites and Big ice-cream based pud. The service was good even though it was really busy. You can't book unless you have 6 or more so you might want to have a Plan B if you can't get a table when you visit.
