Interesting ruins of a hydropathic sanatorium / hotel that was constructed in the 1880s but never finished due to financial difficulties. Had it been completed it would have been huge! Some walls are still standing and can be freely explored. Read moreThe path we took to get there, off Rockfield Rd near Taylor's Brae, felt a little unnerving at first, but it was totally worth it and highly recommended. We have AllTrails which was helpful in confirming the route - there are some switchbacks with dead ends on the fairly short trip up, and one spot with a narrow path between a steep drop and an outcropping. The graffiti is a shame but not completely dominant and doesn't spoil...

There isn't any signage indicating where to walk up, so if you're not looking out for it, it would be easy to miss the trail leading up - it's more a local walking/dog walking path now from what we experienced.
