We went as a family of 6 of a Saturday Evening for my 30th Birthday. Dissapointed does not cover the feeling toward this evening.
Drinks - House red which was lovely and the bottles kept coming, 2x we had to remind servers of drinks we had ordered which hadn't arrived in 30 mins, a Glass of Prosecco and a Whisky and Coke.
Starter - Lovely Black Pudding Scotch Egg, cooked to perfection and tasted beautiful. My partners Spring rolls also lovely as was the Snails.
Mains - 3x Serloins and 3x Rump. Serloins all cooked perfectly, the rumps, all significantly undercooked. We ordered these medium rare, they arrived between blue and rare, and were served cold to where the garlic butter would not melt into the meat. We asked the staff to return these to the kitched to make these more edible, they returned in a not much better state, only with a bit more char on the outer. The chips which were served were also fairly undercooked with mimimal crisp on the outside and a tough bite on the inner for all three rump dishes. The onion rings and mac 'n' cheese were fantastic. We raised issue again on our plates being cleared, and received a lack luster apology from the waitress.
Having worked in service, if one dish is complained about, understandably that may be a picky customer, two I could give doubt, but all three of the same dish having problem proves theres something gone wrong in the kitchen. I would've expected a senior staff member to ask what the issues were so this could be rectified by or at least highlighted to the kitchen. This didnt happen.
Dessert - The sticky toffee pudding was a tough and dry sponge smothered in toffee sauce. The Banoffee Sundae was 3 slices of banana in a glass full of toffee sauce with maybe a single scoop of ice cream. I have a sweet tooth but I could not finish it.
Experience - This was booked by my mother well in advance of the booked date, with the advice it was for my 30th, it was also reminded on the night under the confirmation there would be some sort of Birthday dish brought with 'Happy 30th' or something brought. This also did not happen.
This whole experience was raised to staff and while appreciated that they removed the desserts from the bill, this left what I think should have been a taste sensation and perfect birthday dinner, to a fairly sour end, especially on an over £400 bill.
We still had a lovely time together as a family, but little things, care and attention could have made this dinner exceptional.
I wouldn't reccomend eating here from this experience, and wont...

Read moreHark, ye gentle folk of Glasgow and beyond, lend thine ears to a tale of meat and mirth most grand. Upon a recent eve, we did take our humble selves to The Butcher Shop, a house of steak so esteemed, nestled in yon West End, where good fortune and fire-grilled glory intertwine.
Our banquet began with oysters — the very jewels of Neptune’s trove — glistening upon their shells, their briny kiss awakening the soul. Yet it was the black pudding scotch egg that did rise above them all — the very crème de la crème, a sphere of rich, velvety glory, swathed in crispness, the taste of it echoing in memory like a cherished song.
Then came the noble Chateaubriand, borne upon platters with the grace of kings. Its flesh was a marvel — so tender and perfectly seared, as if kissed by Hephaestus’ own flame. The peppercorn sauce, robust and peppery, clung to each bite like a loyal companion. The chips were to die for — golden, glorious, and audibly crisp. The mashed potato, so thoroughly mashed it could have been spun from silk, did melt upon the tongue with scarcely a whisper.
To wash down such splendour, we imbibed a bottle of Malbec, dark and full-bodied, the wine of poets and warriors alike. A brace of Old Fashioneds soon followed, rich in character, and my beloved did partake of a Dirty Martini, briny and bewitching. All was in celebration of my cousin’s one-and-twentieth year — a merry gathering if ever there was one.
And lo — as if summoned by the gods — the dessert did descend. A stuffed sticky toffee pudding, so warm, so decadent, its toffee clung to the spoon like sin, and the sweetness brought forth sighs from the whole company.
In sooth, The Butcher Shop doth not serve mere meals — it delivers epics. At journey’s end… there lieth a most succulent and...
