The Courtyard Wine Bar — Restaurant in Scotland

Shocked and saddened by the lack of customer service given last night. We’d booked a table for three people from 5.15-8pm and were shown to a small table for two. A fold away metal seat was brought in from outside and added at the side so we asked if we could swap it for the comfy brown one nobody was sitting in. The customer at this table was happy for us to take it. However this was then turned into a ridiculous situation as were told we’d need to return the brown seat at 7.30 despite having booked till 8. So, at 7.30 a member of staff was going to take that chair away to put back at table for two. We suggested the metal one stay there till 8 but the staff were having none of it. Apparently it wouldn’t be aesthetically pleasing and the brown chair must be returned at 7.30. The manager then came and spoke to us and we were made to feel we’d done something wrong. No apologies but instead accusations of us upsetting the staff. This is a ridiculous situation over a chair. The staff would not budge from the fact this particular chair must be given up at 7.30. It could not possibly be left there till 8. We were made to feel unwelcome, vilified and our first drink was reluctantly offered 40 minutes after our arrival. Do you want a drink isn’t exactly welcoming. It made us all feel very awkward and uncomfortable. We were issued our bill at 8pm on the dot! It was made out that we’d asked for the bill and a mistake was made by bringing it over. Other customers were sympathetic to us and two lovely ladies even came over and offered us their bigger table as they were leaving early. The other customers appeared as shocked as we were that such an issue was made over a chair. We visit the courtyard regularly and I am gutted that an innocuous situation...

Was in on the busiest of Saturdays last week. What an atmosphere and the staff were rocking it likes bosses!
