I’d been looking forward to trying this place when up visiting family in Gourock - sadly I was badly let down.
The good points - great setting with views across water, and the breakfast menu is fabulous.
Bad points - service, took over 30 minutes for breakfast to be served from ordering. My/my wife’s breakfast arrived 10 minutes after the rest of the party (6 people), two of the party had finished before we had started. My wife and I order Mexican eggs - chorizo was black/burnt, poached eggs over cooked (not runny at all). I sent mine back. My wife was starving and so ate hers - guacamole and Hollandaise sauce was very good but the chorizo and eggs were a disaster.
On sending back I was asked if I wanted a coffee on the house, which I took up.
On setting bill at end - was presented with the charge before seeing any bill. Not having the energy to question this, I settled. Then got the bill and saw charges for all coffees.
Basically a dreadful experience - rubbish service, substandard food. We won’t...
Read moreThis place is out of this world, I didn't feel good about eating out after covid, however the staff in the cove just put me at so much ease, there was hand gel available on the way in the shop, they asked you to use track and trace, they all had masks on and then they seemed to have lots of hand gel and cleaner behind the counter that they were all using a lot of after each table they served, the place was so clean and the toilet was getting cleaned lots, the food was amazing and could not recommend the pancakes any higher!! This is such a wee gem of a cafe and it is so part of the Gourock community!! It is one not to be missed if you are coming to the area or if you are a local and just fancy a wee brunch out, any family or friends that we meet with round the area it is the first place that we take them and I have never heard a complaint yet! It is 100% kid friendly and also love that we can take our wee dog in!! !00% this...
Read moreWe have wanted to visit the cove for a while to see what the fuss was about but it wasn't exactly what we expected, although it seems popular with locals, it didn't live upto expectations. The seating area is tiny and very cramped, the service was shockingly slow and prices were very overpriced. We were seated straight away but we waited 15 mins before we were served or shown a menu, we ordered but we're told there was at least a 30 min wait but we actually waited 40 mins for our food, as did many other tables. We ordered pancakes, the portions were a good size but no fruit was included at the price, this was extra, but without the fruit the pancakes were far too sickening without it. It was nice enough but was not worth the price or worth around waiting for, doubt we...
