We decided to visited here for dinner and we didn't have a good experience at all. The guy at the bar wasn't very welcoming. We got told to sit at a table and he would bring us cutlery. He came over put everything on our table not a smile or any communication at all which made us feel very uncomfortable. Again when he took our order for drink and food there was no manners and communication was minimal. Our food came quite quickly and we have to say the food was lovely and the portions were very generous. We finished our main course and were left sitting for ages. We notice that some young staff members had just started their shift (three of them). They just kept walking right past us on several occasions looking very miserable and not even serving us (the place wasn't busy at all) They were more interested in standing at the bar talking to each other. There was a poor guy standing at the bar for ages waiting to be served and all the staff were just talking and walking right past him. Wasn't nice to see as the guy looked very awkward and uncomfortable. Eventually a young girl came to our table, not a smile and she had zero manners. We then ordered dessert which again was lovely. We finished our meal and went to the bar to pay and again we were left standing at the bar while the two young staff members just stood in front of us at the other side of the bar talking for ages and didn't even care that we were waiting to be served. Paid our bill and again there was zero manner or customer service. I must say it was one of the strangest experiences I have had when going out for a meal. We felt like the staff just couldn't be bothered or maybe lack of caring or experience. Was a very uncomfortable experiance and it is a shame because the food was so lovely but the staff are letting the place down massively! We definitely won't be...
Read moreMe and my uncle stopped by at this pub/restaurant after visiting Gretna Getaway. When arriving, A young female staff behind the bar greeted us and took us to our table. Another young female staff took our order but didn’t ask if we would anything to ask to drink and nearly walked away if I didn’t mention about it. I had the chicken curry which the chicken was bland and the rice wasn’t boiled properly. My uncle had fish and chips which he wasn’t impressed with. My uncle asked the same female staff that took our order for an another glass of water. He wait 25 minutes for his drink. He asked the same female staff again for his drink. She brought his drink over by slamming his drink on the table and no apology. The same female staff member should not be in the hospitality industry if her attitude and ignorance distract customers.
My advice to the owner of The Gretna Inn is (without dictating and being factious ) the premises is run down so please give it face lift. Train your staff (especially young staff) to show respect to customers as they might come if you show respect to. Is the food local as my uncles fish and chips were something that came out of a frozen pack.
I or my uncle will certainly won’t be back. Tasteless food, poor service and management and a tired...
Read moreWe were up in Gretna Green for my daughters wedding at the Gretna Hall Hotel. When she booked they advised us that they were not able to cater for us on the Thursday night (the day before the wedding) due to the amount of weddings they had on that day.
I contacted the Gretna Geen Inn and asked if the could cater for 16 on the Thursday teatime. I told them we would be happy to preorder due to the amount. I emailed them nearer to the time to confirm there was still 16 and I would send over the list of what everyone would be ordering. I received a phone call confirming the booking and was told that they didn't need the order in advance.
We arrived at 18.30 as planned and was told the upper bar area was reserved for us. We ordered drinks and then started to give our food order. The staff was friendly and nice. The first three of us wanted to order steak and was told there was no sirloin and only one T-Bone. The lad who went for the T-Bone asked for it to be rare (definitely not my choice). When it arrived it was far from rare but as you can't un-cook it he had to make do.
I wouldn't comment on every meal but I didn't hear anyone singing praises, very disappointed. I think we were all glad we had breakfast booked with the rooms at the...
