First time at Azul Monkey after searching for top rated, dog friendly breakfast spots in Crosby and the surrounding area. Azul came out top and so I thought I'd pop by with Milo the Maltipoo. Opened at 9am, sat immediately and really pleasant and attentive staff took drink and food orders promptly. Food was presented quickly (within 10-15mins). I'd ordered the large King Kong breakfast with a latte and a portion of egg for Milo. Every item on the plate had its own really distinctive and pleasant taste which complemented each other perfectly. The stand out was the hash which was season to perfection and full of chorizo, corned beef and little tomatoes. Friendly chatty staff weren't pushy and I didn't feel hurried despite the place filling up quick. Really pleasant start to the weekend. Thanks 😊

I have booked a table for five two weeks before my visit (with deposit) and when we arrived in the place we noticed that the waiting area was non existed. That lead to people waiting for their table/people waiting for their takeout and deliveroo-uber eats drivers to wait in the entrance door and/or right outside of the entrance which means the entrance/exit of the store was constantly blocked. After 10 minutes it was our turn to be seated but the lady offered to put us to a table right next to the entrance which i refused because it was too cold from that entrance/exit door opening every minute and we would have people all around our table waiting for their table or their takeout. She insisted on putting us there as there are no other available tables at the time but we told her that iwecan wait for another table to empty since we were in no rush, she replied that no other table will be available for the next two hours which does not make sense as i explained to her that i will sit on that table for now until something else go free. We have ordered our drinks and food , drinks came and about that time a table went free so we asked for a waiter to move our drinks there. She asked the lady who handles the tables and she came back saying that we cannot be moved as that table has been reserved for another party. In conclusion apparently you can book a specific table to sit which we have never been informed when we booked ours and booking your personal table in my opinion is absurd and makes bookings much complicated. We spent the rest of hour visit having people right above us waiting to be served,we were cold all the time from that door and in general it was a rather stressful than enjoyable visit for a sunday brunch.Honestly that specific table should have been a waiting table for takeouts rather than a table for dining. Coffee was good and chicken burger was a bit overpriced (12.5£) for them three ingredients in it but at least the chicken fillet was divine and it came with a good amount of fries on the side so i didn't leave the place hungry. Staff was friendly, smiley and everything came in time.

A lot of potential but let down by bad coffee and slow service. The interior decor is great, and a sufficient change from its origins as a Moose Coffee spot to make it its own thing. Service was mostly very friendly and the staff were great with our kids which is always a plus. The food was tasty, well presented and reasonably priced. It's a pretty varied menu and I'd say there's something for everyone. The coffee was pretty awful. We had two flat whites and they were 2-3x as big as a flat white should be, poorly extracted, and the milk had massive amounts of foam with little to no latte art. Not a flat white by any definition, and overall not good. Service was incredibly slow. Takeaway orders were coming and going, but the dine-in food took so long to come that we had to chase it up. To make matters worse, not long after the food came out, they handed us the bill and told us they needed our table for the next booking. This could have been handled so much better and it really put a poor ending in the experience. I think Azul Monkey has a lot of potential and I'm reasonably confident we just got unlucky. If we decide to come back I'll update my review and its rating.

Micheal was an absolute delight to be served by. His passion and genuine investment in Azul Monkey was clear to see and he is a real asset. We could’ve been a difficult table to deal with as I’m lactose intolerant and my girlfriend is coeliac, but Michael treated us as any other table which made it very comfortable. When the food came, we were delighted as it looked great. Then we tasted it and it got even better! We will definitely be back in the future! Azul monkey is one of those local businesses that is worth investing in. The standard of service, food and atmosphere is something that is hard to find!

Went for a birthday breakfast for my brother. We were seated by the door which was kept open as it was a nice day, they checked with us several times throughout our meal to check we weren’t too cold. The service was quick and the food was delicious. I’d put in my booking that it was my brother’s birthday and at the end of our meal the staff came over with a free balloon and doughnut and sang happy birthday to him, which was very sweet and a really nice touch. We’ve been several times now and the food has always been excellent. The staff are really friendly and super attentive. Highly recommend.

Such an amazing breakfast experience after our Saturday parkrun routine. It started with the phenomenal Jane at the door who sat us even without a reservation. The menu is vast with gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options. The breakfast was out of this world! The atmosphere is just incredible, they made an amazing effort at sticking to the Portuguese theme with even pastel de nata available. We are definitely coming back.
