Stopped here for coffee on a Sunday afternoon. Overall, most things were on point but the coffee itself was terrible, to our tastes. Staff are helpful and friendly, accessibility was good. Good choice of indoor and outdoor seating and an order from table system using QR codes was available but not compulsory. Good range of baked goods, staff are allergy aware and information is on display. The cafe was clean, tidy, nice decor, well lit. A range of coffee and teas and a range of dairy alternatives are available. Would've scored 4 stars easily if it weren't for the coffee itself, which was very weak. A black americano was served in a glass mug which just highlighted the fact that the coffee was transparent. It looked like it was made with one small shot of espresso and a lot of hot water, whereas all the main chains use two shots for a S/M americano. You definitely shouldn't be able to see through it and it tasted like tainted water, rather than coffee. My oat milk latte was similar in that it was a perfectly pleasant oaty hot drink, but only a mere hint of any coffee. It warmed me up though. I'm guessing that regular customers here may prefer weak coffee?? We chose this cafe to avoid the chains and go somewhere independent and local. Everything else was very good but the actual coffee, the main point of our visit, was lacking, er, coffee, along with any flavour,...
Read moreVisited DAPA in Formby for first time today.. This will be our First and last visit!. Went in at 4.30 today for 2 coffees and 2 pastries . Not busy only my partner and myself to be served. Placed order with the mature lady at the counter, paid, and she said she would bring the order to the table. Waited, and waited , and waited. Decided to see what the delay was. I could see our order on the counter, and the lady who took the order had her back too me and 2 younger staff. All having a nice talk whilst our coffee was getting colder. I managed to attract the attention of one of the young staff, but she turned away and ignored me.. I then asked why we were waiting and no one serving us.. The mature lady just glared at me. one of the young girls then brought our order, but although the person in charge had plenty of opportunities to at least appologies, we never got one.. Before you visit this DAPA coffee shop I suggest you read the Tripadvisor reviews. No wonder customers are not happy. We will not be going to this coffee shop again. If you don't want our business, that's ok. You will not ever...
Read moreThis is my second time having a bad experience at dapa. It saddens me to write this review but I always try to support local independents as much as possible for obvious reasons. The first time I visited, I had to wait 45 minutes for a peppermint tea. When I enquired where it was after 20 minutes I had horrible attitude back towards me. When it was placed in front of me it was in a dirty cup and not a word was uttered to me. My second negative visit I felt as if I’m sat in a glorified youth club. All the waiters friends had taken the majority of the seats and were being loud and obnoxious. The waiters were talking to their friends whilst I was waiting by the till to be served for a good few minutes before I was acknowledged. Their friends were going in and out of the kitchen and were behind the bar area helping themselves to cakes. I’m utterly shocked at the foul language used by the staff and their friends. The management team need to step in desperately. I write this review with only well wishes and issues that have been mentioned...
