Ordered an English breakfast with extra side of cooked tomatoes and these were forgotten. Politely asked the staff member if we could have what ordered (and paid for). She came back with these tomatoes covered in oil, one raw and one had barely touched the pan. It looked like a joke in a basket. The staff member also came with an air of irritation, I guess being asked give the customer something they paid for is in her mind outrageous. The food was cold, the serving staff seem to hate their job (the staff behind the bar are pleasant). Where is management?

A nice looking spoons but quite easily drive past it before you get to the roundabout by the shops. A nice open view kitchen where you can see the young chefs having a melt down but still getting the food to your table no problem. A big expansive floor area. Getting through the small high tables towards the exit can be a challenge with the high barstool chairs strune everywhere lol. That is just a tiny gripe on a well run spoons. Staff very pleasent and attentive to requests. Always visit while in Formby 👍👍

Great cocktails and great food, especially the chips. Cheap food. Using the app means they bring everything to your table. Evenings are always busy, but daytime is often quiet. If you can snag a booth there are outlets for usbs and plugs so a few of you can charge your phones or use laptops to get work done, found this very useful in the past. Child friendly, often a lot of children in the evenings.

My daughter decided to have lunch at the Wetherspoons in Formby on 1st March with some friends to celebrate her birthday.

When the food arrived two of the meals were incorrect but the staff said that as the food had been cooked there was nothing they could do. They politely said that this was unacceptable as it was the mistake of the waiter who took the order and they asked to see the manager.

The manager claimed she heard the girls order their food and that they were at fault by giving the wrong order. The group explained that she was mistaken as they all listened carefully when the food order was made. They explained that if the correct food was not going to be cooked that they would like a refund. The manager then went off saying they had already cooked the food and there was nothing they could do.

In the meantime my daughter phoned me for some advice as they were shocked at the unbelievable treatment they were receiving and felt that because they were older teenagers the staff were being dismissive. After following my advice, and waiting 20 minutes, they called the waiter over again and asked what was happening. He went off to ask and 10 minutes later the manager came over and ‘dumped’ a cash refund on the table and told them that in future they should ‘do me favour and read the menu properly next time’ and she walked off laughing.

The group were amazed at her attitude and began to doubt if she was the actual manager due to her immaturity and lack of hospitality skills.

The group were shocked and most upset and went to the Cross House pub down the road so they could order two more meals.

One of the girls parents phoned Wetherspoons and asked to speak to the so called manager who was then very rude.

We are all very upset at the way the group were treated. This was a group of seven intelligent teenage girls (17/18 years of age) who we all feel were treated appallingly because of their age.

Come on Wetherspoons get your act together. Teenagers should be valued too. Better staff training and customer service is...

Lovely little spoons in a great little town. Perfect place for a few quiet ones or a cheap meal. The layout is vast and there is a good array of inside and outside seating. With some cosy corner tables for a slightly more quiet setting. Atmosphere is that of a typical spoons although because of the area you get a sense of local community in this particular spoons. The punters seem friendly and the staff are polite and welcoming. The phone reception isn't the best so ordering on the app is a bit hit and miss. The bar however is a good size so it's not too difficult to get up and order there. You will be spotted quickly and due to it being a more quiet spoons you won't be waiting long. Toilets are clean although a little far away being tucked upstairs out of the way. Breakfast service was quick apart from one of us in the party. But nothing to bad that couldn't be put down to bad luck or coming on a 'bad day'. We had a few drinks one evening and back a few days later for breakfast. Can't comment on the main menu but I've never experienced a spoons that's sub par from any others. This was the first time I had order a spoons breakfast. It was a good price and I will be having one again next time I'm nearby and in need of some...

Is the Lifeboat Formby the worst run #jdwetherspoon anywhere? We went there in the opening week and had terrible service with cold food served late and when we complained were dismissed out of hand. When we emailed #jdwetherspoon again we were ignored. Yesterday we decided to try it again thinking that it had to be a one off as the place had only just opened when we went the first time. Big mistake. The food was okay apart from the halloumi which was burnt. We ordered a vodka lime and lemonade (it was after noon) Unforunately they had run out of lime. When we tried it the post mix lemonade was so sweet that it was undrinkable. When I returned it I was told that the post mix was faulty and was offered an alternative, I asked for a tin of lemonade rather than post mix and was told that i would have to pay extra. Attitude of the management was so dismissive it was insulting. In addition tables near us were left uncleared for far too long and when they were evenyually cleared were not cleaned small black flies swarming round the remains of meals. I don't think we will be back there...
