Sorrento — Restaurant in Sefton

First time visiting, we’d heard great things and the reviews are good, however we were left underwhelmed and disappointed I’m afraid.

Service was ok, we ordered a drink that never arrived & had to ask for the bill multiple times before just going to the bar to pay.

The food was the biggest let down. We ordered three starters, the burrata special was nice. However, the garlic bread was standard nothing special, underwhelming & lacked garlic.

The Patate Ripiene sounded lovely on the menu, Italian potato skins. I was just bemused by what came out, half a jacket potato with nothing inside and covered in tomato sauce with a bit of bacon. Would not recommend.

The Tagliatelle Salmon, firstly it had clearly sat under the heat lamp for a while so it was dry on top. It lacked flavour, sauce and the salmon was just mushed in. Would not recommend.

The lasagne was basic, clearly had plain tomato passata just poured over it with no seasoning just an overwhelming tomato taste. Incredibly disappointed.

The Gamberoni Piri Piri we initially ordered as a starter to have as a main for one of our party who doesn’t have a big appetite, but the owner said to have the large when ordering, so she said yes. Came to £24.95 which was overpriced for what arrived, the sauce was ok, nothing special and just a piece of bread on the side.

We came away disappointed & we felt for what it was, it was overpriced.

Unfortunately I won’t return which is shame living in the village. Maybe it was just an off day, but it wasn’t overly busy and when you pay their prices I just expect more.

Visited Saturday 05/05/2018. The restaurant was fairly busy and we were sat within about 10 minutes. Our table was in the corner, which might suggest why we were forgotten about for the majority of the evening. The menu prices were astonishing in comparison to other, better Italian restaurants in the area. I was expecting a very classy, delicious meal as a result!

We were brought garlic bread and offered black pepper, which we accepted. We had finished this before the pepper was brought or our mains order was taken. A waiter eventually took pity on our hand waving (only resorted to after an eternity of waiting patiently). I ordered the salmon with penne and a creamy white wine sauce. Am I a fool to be surprised when I was brought a bowl of pasta, pieces of salmon and a splash of sauce? For the price I would have expected some extra finesse, or a few vegetables within the meal? And what I DID have was oily, sickly and disappointing.

Over 30 minutes passed after we finished our meal. During this time I was horrified to witness what I believed to be a very angry, aggressive waiter shouting at his colleagues. He was shouting profanities all over the restaurant, throwing things around the pass area, and generally acting in a very scary, volatile manner. I was about to grab my bag and leave when, to my utter astonishment, I became aware that he was watching a FOOTBALL MATCH on the restaurant TV. The sheer unprofessionalism off this staff member was just the icing on the cake for a truly terrible experience.

I dined here one Saturday evening as l had heard really good reviews from friends so thought I'd give it a try. Frankly l wasn't so impressed . The starter was fabulous but we both felt very rushed and we were positioned right in front a TV showing football which seemed to be the only thing the waiters were interested in for the evening ! The main was supposed to be a fillet steak .....It was dry and overcooked and a very strange colour so l sent it back, but even when it was replaced it never made any difference it was still bland and didn't resemble steak at all in fact it smelt like pork . The dessert was a tirimasu but again quite dry and certainly not worth what we paid for it. The bill was nearly £120.00 for the two of us which l found expensive for what we had eaten. The service wasnt great ,we had three waiters who failed to communicate with each other so therefore we were being asked the same questions time and time again until the bill of course which we paid and quickly left. I just found the whole experience rushed the food wasn't great and the waiters were not interested. I was quite surprised we could easily get a table the evening before at 8 on a Saturday before Valentine's night but now l...
