Woodwards Winebar — Restaurant in Sefton

Woodwards (Woodies) is a nice cozy spot in the heart of the village, serving coffees and small food throughout the day, and doubling up as a wine bar at night.

On the food front, both the sausage butty and BLT are good. They're no frills but priced accordingly, so go with this in mind.

The coffee is... awful. I've watched the staff spoon froth onto coffee to make a "capuchino", their smallest flat white is about 3x the size it should be, and the coffee is so hot you need to wait 20 minutes or you'll burn your mouth. The latte art is... none existant (see photo), which tells you the milk isn't being steamed properly. It's a shame, as the staff are friendly and the place is lovely, but with coffee this bad I can't say I'll be back.

If you're looking for the bar that offers something special, Woodwards is the place to find it. Along with beers, wines, spirits and cocktails, during the day the bar offers a range of tasty snacks. The place offers a warm welcome, the staff always giving a sense that they're pleased to see you. Every Friday and most weekends, there's live music. I'd go as far as to say, the best that Formby has to offer. If that's not enough, the bar invites musicians and singers to an Open Mic session the last Thursday of each month. I often visit this place when in the local area. The last time was a Saturday early evening. The sun was out so lots of people were in the bar and outside tables were full. The bar food options are basic and on my most recent visit the olives and pitta bread took a long time to arrive. Service was friendly, as always, but somewhat chaotic with three young people all doing their best but not sure how to organise things. It took three attempts to get the table we took wiped down.
