For our much-anticipated date night this week, I suggested the newly opened Kemola Lounge in Liverpool, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. Amidst a hectic workweek, my husband and I were yearning for a relaxing evening, and Kemola Lounge exceeded our expectations.

We discovered this gem through an Instagram post announcing its grand opening event. A scenic 40-minute drive from St Helens brought us to the warm embrace of Kemola Lounge. Upon entry, we were warmly welcomed by one of the co-owners, setting the tone for a delightful experience.

Our table was strategically placed next to a lavish bar showcasing an impressive selection of wines. The ambiance exuded relaxation, fun, and exclusivity, reminiscent of a cherished family-run Spanish restaurant we visited for our anniversary in Spain.

The down-to-earth customer service at Kemola Lounge made us feel genuinely cared for, emphasizing their commitment to both customers and the quality of their cuisine. Complimentary nuts, including healthy pistachios, were a thoughtful touch, complementing the diverse and appealing menu.

Opting for soft drinks, we were pleased to be offered water with a neat presentation. The immediate estimate of the wait time for our freshly prepared food underscored the dedication to quality.

To our delight, the starters arrived ahead of schedule, emitting an enticing aroma that set the stage for a culinary journey. The peppered chicken wings and pepper soup were delightful, while the main course of Abula (amala, gbegiri, ewedu, etc.) and pounded yam with egusi showcased the chef's expertise.

Generous portions, piping hot dishes, and impeccable taste and presentation elevated the dining experience, surpassing some smaller fine dining establishments we've visited in the past. Kemola Lounge's spacious upstairs area hints at versatility, suitable for various celebrations, from birthdays to anniversaries and staff away days.

Our memorable date night felt like an early Valentine's Day treat, thanks to Kemola Lounge. Food is really nice. I’ve tried their peppered snail & fried yam, peppered Asun, jollof rice and fried rice. I’ve also tried their African soups and it was really nice. Their service is top notch but there might be a few delay when delivering the food. Aside that. Everything is perfect. I would definitely be ordering more food from them or do a dine in sometime. I’ll rate them 8/10… if you are looking for an African restaurant to eat in or order from … Kemola is among my Top 3 best African restaurants in Liverpool. Hope this helps...
