A very strange experience. I went in to buy a couple of beers and, after they were put through the till, the person serving exclaimed the price out loud as if to indicate their surprise/ horror at the cost. I found it somewhat embarrassing, as itās a small shop and there were a number of people sat at tables, it made me feel awkward- like I donāt want to go back there again to buy any beers to take out. If they are selling expensive beer then they shouldnāt try to shame or embarrass customers who buy it!! It happened once before in there, a while ago, when the young man serving me commented on the beer Iād bought being expensive! You need to improve your customer service skills! In the meantime āgood luckā- I wonāt bother...

The bar has two real cask ales and keg lines as well, usually featuring one local beer. Always in good condition. There is also a quite large bottle selection of domestic and world beers so you should have no problem finding something to quench your thirst!
Food is available but only during certain times of day so please check first before making the journey if coming for a bite to eat as well. Seating can be tricky to find during busy periods and standing room is limited, there is also a seating area on the pavement.
Previously the Barrel House was a newsagent but you can still pick up your...

The owner manager is on hand to help figure out your next beer and you can drink delights from3% all the way to 15%+. So, as I said, it's got depth and is more interesting the more you get to know it. Go visit but try the exotic beers. If you walk home you haven't taken...
