This used to be a fantastic business as Stanleys for lawnmower purchase and repair although repairs were always backed up and then they stopped lawnmower sales and repairs and believe they may have recently started it up again.. Also do safes and key cutting etc but the museum although obviously unique and has taken years to set up and perfect is really more of the owners pet project so to speak and think the Stanley's business really subsidises it. It's not a money spinner have never seen anyone go in it and to be fair how many people are really interested in vintage lawnmowers I mean I can't think that lawnmower enthusiasts are in the thousands even like birdwatching or model train set enthusiasts but it might give some interesting facts like I believe the owner gave Charles and Diana a lawnmower as a wedding gift! If true I suppose that's a cool...

As a lawnmower enthusiast, I found this little hidden gem well worth the 6 and a half hour drive. Being an avid Coronation Street viewer and Last of the Summer Wine viewer, I particularly enjoyed thoroughly investigating Hilda Ogden's Qualcast Panther, which is one of the proud displays here. I must admit, I like the fact they prefer to emphasise a little more on the good old petrol driven models a little more than your more modern Flymo type mower, which so distils the somewhat refreshing, mental stimulation of mowing the lawn. I also found the shop a particular highlight, myself and my partner purchased 2 fantastic matching 'British Lawnmower Museum' T-Shirts, along with 2 Pewter Shanks model lawnmowers which we now have proudly superglued onto the dashboard of our motorhome, to keep us company on our extraneous travels around the...

I really did not want to look round the Lawn Mower Museum! I wanted to sit in the car & read the paper - what a yawn,I thought. My husband is re-building an Atco mower so is full of enthusiasm & desperate to talk mowers to someone! So in I went and wow - what a surprise! Not just mowers, all sorts of amazing pieces of machinery;there was Paul O'Gray's lawnmower with pink fluffy bits on it,Prince Charles' ride-on mower given to him on his wedding to Lady Di,an enormous robot mower that could have mown a field! Amazing scythes and a machine that scarified, cut and rolled in one go! Fascinating stuff. Go and see and be amazed and...

A bit niche but after checking to see what was available to visit in Stockport I decided to pay them a visit and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had never really thought about how the lawnmower was invented but the history was really interesting. I spotted a Qualcast lawnmower identical to the one I used as a boy back in the 1960’s and it brought back a lot of memories

They have so many lawnmowers… Exactly what you want from a random museum run by people who are passionate about the subject! Go through the locksmiths, pay your £3 and enter a converted house stuffed full with lawnmowers and lawnmower related nic nacs. If you’re Southport and love gardening and/or whimsy, give it a shot

A quirky British museum with an unquestionable dedication to the lawn mower, something that most of us clearly take for granted yet is a machine with a fascinating history. The audio tour was really well done and was probably essential to interpret the collection to us non mower experts. We both really enjoyed it.
