The Tea Rooms — Restaurant in Sefton

I've been going to the Tea Rooms a couple of times a week for the last few months with a friend. The coffee is nice and the staff a great. I went as usual yesterday and had 2 Flat White and a 1 shot Cappuccino I asked for my flat white to be put in a latte cup,as this is what I did on Tuesday. When it came it was in the normal cup which I thought fine no problems. When I paid the bill to my horror they had charged me £3-00 for the lager cup that I never got ! That means it cost me £4-50 for a larger Flat White that I never got. Rather than saying anything as I was with a friend I simply asked "why so expensive"? I was told "well things have gone up in price you know" this from the same waitress who tried to charge me £3-00 for 2 glasses of milk WHICH I DIDN'T HAVE the week before.! First visit just after Christmas we weren't allowed to order food for 15 minutes because they were busy and stopped taking food orders. Wait for food was about 30 minutes.The waitress said their kitchen is only small. Just seems odd to not take orders because then the chef doesn't know what's coming. Second visit just after new year we arrived ten minutes after opening to be told the coffee machine isn't ready yet and will be another ten minutes. The coffee machine should be ready when your doors open. The coffee itself was nice when it arrived. Had a delicious lunch here with my mum. I had the truffle, mushrooms, bechemel and poached eggs on sourdough - it was amazing! My mother had the caramelised onion and goats cheese wrap and very much enjoyed it, which is high praise as she is a fussy eater. Good selection of juices are available, a bit pricey, but very nice and full of goodness. It has to be said the service was a little slow. However it was incredibly busy.
