Sun Do — Restaurant in Sevenoaks

Very nice lady server Atmosphere ok for a lunch time visit. My only criticism is that 10% service charge was added to my bill. Which I didnot have a problem with. However when I was given the bill there was no complimentary chocolate or mint I just feel if a restaurant wishes to add a service charge the least they can offer in return would be a chocolate or mint or fortune cookie to show their appreciation for our custom. It is for this reason only that I have not given a five star review We have been several times since this review and the food has been good the service mediocre. Unfortunately today's visit (Feb 15th) everything from service , food and the two tier treatment between the regulars and not so regulars was appalling . Table next to us (obbiously on friendly terms with the restaurant ) came in 20 minutes after us and were served 10 minutes before us . They were given complimentary prawn crackers we weren't, They were asked if everything was OK , we weren't, they were given complimentary after dinner chocolates again we weren't. Sadly , had they done there homework they would have realised that in the past 8 months we have dined at the sun do several times as a couple and twice with friends. Unfortunately this evenings visit will be our last. Based on this evenings experience I will change my feed back from a four star rating to a two star. I'm not one to be vindictive therefore wish the Sun do and its staff all the best for 2025. March 4th 2025...... Many thanks for you kind reply and explanation. I think on this occasion recollections may vary. I have no complaints about the food I do however stand by the fact that we were treated differently to who you considered being regulars. And that's where you made a very big mistake as I'm sure we probably made more visits as a couple and on other occasions with friends, to the Sun do . I'm fairly confident that you probably don't care that you have lost us...

The Sun Do was a favorite of my in the past I say past because our visit this week was not a good experience ! It was lunch for four one of us needed gluten free food we spoke to the restaurant two or three times to check because they sounded very unsure and vague but said they could accommodate us ,but when we sat down they apologised because they only had chicken and corn soup and rice that was suitable ! There were on two other tables occupied while we were there and on a Friday before Xmas .The food heaters arrived ,which looked as if they were about 20 years old which had two candle one of which the flame went out ,we mentioned to the unfriendly male waiter who said "it didn't matter " when the other candle also went out we did get one of the female waitresses to light them. The restaurant was very cold ,barely any heating on a very cold day,the gluten food was ok ,thank goodness but the atmosphere was miserable.,..My suggestion to the owner is probably either close it down because it is so dated and tired with miserable staff or modernise it have someone to welcome you with a smile and some conversation and put the heating on ! Nb ,I don't know? it is possible that the atmosphere is much better in...

Myself and 7 other members of my family were in Sevenoaks last weekend to celebrate two birthdays. We had booked at another resturant weeks before but they gave away our table despite us being there on time. We therefore decided to order a takeaway from you - as we know the food is of absolute quality.

We went into the resurant and spotted that a) the place was full but b) there was one table of 8 that was free.

I explained the above to your manager and she gave us the table, despite being rushed off their feet. (We later discovered that they had gone through 3 complete sittings that evening already alongside takeaway orders)

The food was exquisite (as usual) and the service was impeccable. They even (out of the blue) sang happy birthday to both the people whose birthdays we were celebrating.

Their service was impeccable, their food was delicious and they are by far and away the best Chinese resturant I've ever been to. There is no wonder it has been open for so long now !

Thank you so much for the meal and for saving our birthday celebrations - other Asian restaurants in the area (especially ones that have only just opened) should look at tour service as the gold...
