Without a doubt, hands down the best Indian cuisine I have ever had. So much so, that I refuse point blank to go to any other Indian restaurant. We have eaten here so many times, on pretty much a monthly basis - and sometimes more - for the past 15+ years. The food is always impeccable with a menu that covers everything from your classic Indian dishes - Korma, Tikka Masala etc - but goes above and beyond with Balti dishes, traditional Tandoori dishes and biryani dishes that mean you are spoilt for choice. Where the expansive menu comes alive however is the Chef's Recommendations. Basically the specials, they are a rich array of over 30 more inventive and unusual dishes from the mouth-wateringly delicious "Tandoori Murugh Makhani" (which has a milder counterpart in a Butter chicken, but rest assured the dishes are far from being the same), to the delicious "Amli Murugh Juhl" (Mango Chicken) that has to be tasted for its succulence and perfectly complimenting array of flavours, to the decadent Jard Aloo Gousth - "Sweet & sour lamb cooked with apricots and potatoes. A parsi dish which is a favourite in India" to quote directly from the menu. They even have the deadly Naga Murugh which is made with the Naga chili AKA the ghost chili, so-called hottest chili in the world from Man v Food fame!
Whilst the menu may sound too good to be true it certainly has to be experienced in copious amounts. Routinely we spend £45ish for four people to eat 4 dishes, a vegetable dish, 2 rice dishes, onion bhajis and naan (and let me say, the bhajis are quite simply the most divine things you will pop in your mouth). Dishes are reasonably inexpensive ranging from £5.85 for the most basic korma - there is a deluxe version, the "Chicken Tikka Pista Korma" in the Recommendations section - and £7.50 for most of the specials but even if it sounds a bit pricey for your budget you won't think twice ever again once you have enjoyed the place once.
The atmosphere in the place is delightful, the place regularly packed so I would highly recommend booking ahead especially if eating on Friday or over the weekend. Yes, that's right, it isn't just a take-away establishment but has an expansive restaurant area with lovely décor that hits the perfect line between traditional and modern. The staff are friendly, efficient and championed by Eafor Ali and Abdul Mumain who are always ready with a warm smile and a handshake.
Whether eating in or taking out, the food is available usually with a minimum of waiting - though this is not always the case especially when busy, but again never has been unreasonably so. Routinely we call for a take-away and drive the 10 minutes to pick it up, having been told it will be 15, to find that it is ready and piping hot. Do not take this to mean that they are therefore simply spooning food from a vat, in all my visits to the place the food has been nothing but the freshest.
If I have not convinced you by now to visit the place then I guess I never will, but please believe me when I say again that it is bar none the best Indian cuisine I have ever eaten - and I have travelled in India - and definitely without doubt the best restaurant in Edenbridge and much of the surrounding area. A must visit, even if it means going out...
Read moreI never write reviews good or bad, however having just had possibly the worst curry both me and my partner have ever had, I felt compelled to warn others as this is now the second time and another £40 wasted.
I think it very harsh to not be fair as with everything, so I will be fair and say the popadoms were nice and the keema nan, however if you planning on having curry, go somewhere else.
We ate in the restaurant when we moved to Edenbridge a year ago, and to say that both of our curry's were salty is an understatement. The staff were very polite and as we both had the same curry (bhoona) and were enjoying ourselves, we just thought the chef had probably dropped the salt shaker in the sauce (it was that salty) so did not complain.
Having wanting to give this place another chance due to so many good reviews, Valentines day seemed like a good as time as any, WHAT A MISTAKE. Had I ordered a salt fish curry in a salt sauce I would have been very happy, I didn't. Unfortunately both my girlfriends bhoona and my Jahlfrezi were too salty to even eat more than half of. We will certainly not be going back and neither of us can figure out how they stay open with food of that poor quality.
We are not bad people at all and I even feel bad writing this, but when you spend £40 on a takeaway, although I don't expect Michelin star, I do expect to be able to eat it and neither of us could.
As previously mentioned the popadom and, even bhaji were nice enough, but that's where it ends and now were sat here hungry wondering whether to order a dominos!
If your thinking about ordering, there are plenty of good reviews however, if you want to make an in-formed decision, you also need to be in-formed when its poor and that's now 2 out of 2 and a waste of our hard...
Read moreWe recently had the pleasure of dining at this incredible Indian restaurant, and it was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we walked in, the warm ambiance and welcoming staff made us feel right at home.
The meal was absolutely divine. Each dish was beautifully prepared, bursting with authentic flavors and spices. The butter chicken was creamy and rich, with just the right amount of spice, while the onion baji was perfectly crispy and seasoned. The naan was soft, warm, and complemented the curries perfectly. We also tried the biriyani, which was fragrant, flavorful, and one of the best we’ve had.
What really stood out was the attention to detail — every dish had its own distinct taste and was clearly made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The portion sizes were generous, and everything was served piping hot.
On top of the delicious food, the service was top-notch. The staff was friendly, attentive, and more than happy to offer suggestions when we weren’t sure what to order. Their knowledge and passion for the cuisine added to the overall experience.
This restaurant is a gem, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit. If you’re craving authentic Indian food that’s full of flavor and cooked to perfection, this is the...
