From reading other reviews our party must have visited on an extremely difficult night. Other reviews are extremely positive, but sadly, our visit was all a bit rubbish, very different to when it used to be Almas and run by Paul.
Right from entering the restaurant no one seemed to really care about us, we were acknowledged but not greeted, not made to feel welcome, just directed to our table with no engagement from the staff. No one offered to take our coats, and we weren’t given menus. We were not made to feel welcome at all.
Eventually after what seemed like a good ten minutes someone came over with menus but then immediately asked us if we were ready to order. It was the first time we had seen the menu, so we did the classic and ordered a load of poppadom’s and pickles to give us time to relax and look over the menu, but even at that stage the waiter wasn't able to answer questions that we had about the dishes on the menu.
Eventually we placed our order and the food arrived fairly quickly, but we were all very surprised at how small the portions were. Sometimes if the food is absolutely stunningly superlatively amazingly gorgeous then that is a good thing and its a pleasure to savour a really well thought through and presented dish, but unfortunately everything was just lacklustre. We might have had a better experience with a supermarket microwave meal.
Previously whenever we had guests in Sheffield or business clients asked where they should take a client of their own, I would always recommend Almas, but sadly Delhi in Minutes didn't do it for me our my fellow diners and wont be getting any...

Went to Almas restaurant in Dore today...
Have been there millions of times without issue
Today was told they had a "no children policy" and asked me to leave their restaurant within five seconds of walking in and would not allow me to feed my daughter in the toilet cubicles while I waited for my dad to come and get us.
My sister who is extremely calm and passive ended up in tears and I had to feed Maya in a graveyard while I waited for my dad to come and get us.
Have worked in the catering industry for ten years and never experienced this level of rudeness and disrespect, ruined our whole evening and wasted money getting a taxi there. There is no mention on their website of children not being welcome. She's two weeks old, only cries when she's hungry. It's against the law to stop someone from feeding their baby in public.
I'm a new mum and it's scary going out with the baby, I shouldn't have been made to feel like this and just want to avoid others going through the same thing.
Also they don't mind people drunk out their faces because of course they rack up a substantial...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant as a family on a Sunday evening. Despite living locally, we hadn't been back since it changed hands—honestly, the name had made us assume it was more of a takeaway!
Though the restaurant was quiet, it turned out to be an absolute gem. The staff were superbly attentive, with our waiter showing impressive patience as he walked us through the menu.
Speaking of the menu, it's refreshingly concise—no overwhelming choices, just well-curated options.
For starters, we enjoyed a selection that included Pani Puri, which was excellent. The only slight letdown was the calamari, which felt a little ordinary. However, the mains were where the restaurant truly shone! We ordered four different dishes, and I had the pleasure of trying them all. Each was distinct, and the staff thoughtfully adjusted the spice levels to suit individual tastes.
The rice and breads were just as impressive—I tried Paratha for the first time, and it was an absolute delight! Without a doubt, this was the best Indian meal we’ve had in a long time, and we’re already looking forward to...
