We decided to visit the cafe in order to show support . It has undergone an internal renovation which looks rather beautiful. Currently the outside is also being renovated. Well done so far! 👏 The prices are pricey given the fact it is cafe food, not even cafe bistro. For example, the tea is served in a normal mug which is fine but for £2.50 a mug it is very over priced. It is not served in a teapot or left to brew. This to me is not worth more than £1.50 at the very most. It tasted like hot water.
There is very little choice if you are vegan, if you are vegan be aware the chips are fried amongst the chicken. The dogs have a better and more varied menu than vegans.
The cakes are fresh and tasty, and are very much worth the price. It is obvious the cakes are baked fresh rather than purchased wholesale.
Service was fast, even on a busy day, all staff were cheery and happy. They answered questions with politeness and friendliness. One waitress unfortunately wasn't as happy and was rather curt with her answers! Maybe she was tired and having a bad day. I am unsure as all questions were asked with the utmost respect and politeness. She didn't smile either. However, I will give her the benefit of doubt. We have all had those days at work where we exhausted.
All in all, a place with potential. Higher prices for the type of service and food being offered. I paid £38.00 for five hit drinks and some cakes. The hugher orice points may be due to the recent renovations, etc. After all, the cafe needs to turnover a profit.
The toilets were generally clean. The cafe was generally clean, however as it was a busy period there was some messy tables and mess...
Read moreI hardly ever leave reviews, but my family and I regularly use Graves Park and find the Rose Garden cafe a huge let down for what is otherwise a wonderful place to visit and spend time. The ambience is dingy even with the new decor, and not helped by covering all the windows with large pictures so no natural light can get in. The children's play area is grotty with extremely dirty toys. The food is over priced for the quality, uninspiring, served with wet chunks of cucumber, iceberg lettuce and tomato. The cake choice is limited to a tray bake - surely cake is an essential for a cafe? The coffee is weak, machine produced, and over priced. The chairs and tables are metal outdoor type and, surprisingly, are an improvement over the ripped padded chairs that were there for years, but still feel very unwelcoming. The toilets are usually dirty with only cold water to wash dirty hands in - surely an oversight considering children will have been playing in the sand pit or stroking animals! This could be an amazing cafe given its location and ownership by the excellent Relax Eat Drink chain, but it needs an urgent dose of TLC and imagination to transform it. At the moment it lets its customers down, and can only be damaging it owner's reputation. Please...
Read moreif I could give this no stars I really would. Me and my family have been regular with this cafe for many years, and always found it to be a nice place, but over the last year there staffing has got incredibly worse, to the point where they have brought a new manager into the cafe, that talks down to the customers, talks even worse to the staff, and runs the staff of there feet, and still talks to them like crap. It's the female management that are rude, impolite, nasty and down right vile to people. They other staff do there up most to please but they get chastised for that. Really really bad call with management there. They do not have a clue how to run that place and have pulled this cafe down in recent months, I'm surprised they have any staff left how they treat them. Then there's the prices, everything seems to have gone up so much, to take out a coffee you have to buy large, WHY?.... and since the new management they never have enough stock in. So constantly running out of product. It's a really big shame how they have let this management team pull this business down when they used to be a nice place. Really not a nice place to be and I really feel so sorry for there poor staff having to put up with the management, it...
