Unfortunately we didn't have a great experience at Dysh, which is a shame as we were really excited about going. We had booked a table in advance and were shown to our seats. The place has a lovely welcoming feel, light and airy and a good atmosphere. It wasn't overly busy. A waiter said he would bring us some water and took our drinks orders. The water never came and the coffees came 30 minutes later. The coffee was excellent, but half an hour? Unfortunately there is no children's menu and the place doesn't really feel child friendly. No child drinks portions or options, (only adult sizes) no child cutlery, although the cutlery is really nice. Full sized drinks for kids and the child's menu option was 'we'll make a smaller version of an adult meal for a childs portion.' Any parent knows how irritating this is. The chosen options are either not available and you end up in a constant bartering situation with said child, and you know that with no diaplayed price, the price is plucked out of the air and added to the bill. A dedicated childs menu with clearly displated prices saves an awful lot of bother.
Unfortunately the main issue we had was with our food. I have a mushroom allergy and asked for all 3 breakfasts to come without mushrooms. We asked for other extra items instead. We asked for scrambled egg which we were initially told wasn't possible, only poached as the kitchen is small. Fair enough - the poached eggs must surely be amazing then, no? 40 minutes later, (considering it wasn't that busy) our food arrived. All plates had mushrooms on, none of the extra items were included. No butter witrh the toast. Requested butter from a waiter, who brought a thin slice of butter smaller than a postage stamp. Asked for some pepper (there was none on the table) waiter brought salt. No beans with the breakfast. Obviously this is the chef's choice and it doesn't say on the menu beans are included but surely they are a staple of an English breakfast, no? All poached eggs were harder than a hard boiled egg, cooked solid all the way through. No delicious runny yolk soaking up the meaty breakfast, just a hard, solid egg. And with the lack of beans the breakfast was dry, dry, dry. Such a shame as I really wanted this to be a real hit. At £40 for 2 and a half breakfasts I really...

Have been reviewing for good coffee shop after having inconsistent coffee on Sharrow/Ecclesall area. This Independent coffee and kitchen DYSH was recommended.
Tried this coffee shop and have been very impressive that I went back again.I was greeted right away as soon as I entered. The lovely guys explained what cakes they have and all made by their talented Chef’s in the kitchen. Ordered coffee which tasted fab and the cakes tasted divine. The cakes/desserts were fresh, creamy , delicate and not over powered with sugar, just the right amount of sweetness to it. You can tell they used good ingredients.
Service was super fast, as soon as I sat down water was served then followed with coffee and cakes. The customer service is exceptional and very attentive. Love the fact that it seems they are always one step ahead of the customers’ request which is VERY rare.
The place is clean, busy and has lovely music which creates a lovely chilled environment. They also serve breakfast and lunch which I can’t wait to try.Have already informed my friends to meet here for food/coffee shortly LOL. Have tried other coffee shops and cakes within the area and was still hunting for a good one until I tried DYSH - THIS IS THE ONE!! a hidden gem which has now become my fav.place (and I am picky).Delightful place that deserves 5stars*
Would continue to support this local business and wish them them...
Read moreI recently visited Dysh on 'Eccy Road' in Sheffield. It is a small, cozy shop with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are always happy to help you choose the perfect tea or coffee, and they are knowledgeable about the different types of tea available.
Dysh has a wide variety of loose leaf teas to choose from, They also have a selection of coffees, smoothies, and other drinks. The food menu includes a variety of breakfast and lunch, as well as gluten-free options.
I ordered a pot of Earl Grey tea, which was delicious. The tea was perfectly steeped and had a strong, flavorful aroma. I ordered a Royale something - I forget. I upgraded to tatertots to replace the toast. The poached eggs were delicious, hollandaise delisious, the salmon was yummy.
The prices are reasonable, and the service is excellent. I would definitely recommend this coffee shop to anyone looking for a great cup of tea or coffee in a friendly and welcoming environment.
