Gilmours Coffee Shop — Restaurant in Sheffield

This cafe is very mediocre and chargers extortionate prices. I know the cake vender they use, it costs very little to make these great cakes yet they charge a fortune. Furthermore, I have noted several staff members , including the man who prepared the food, smoking in and around the cafe whilst on their shifts which is huge hygiene issue let alone when one considers that this is a family place where are often taken. The older man who I believe is the owner tends to vape within the cafe despite customers being there which is illegal as smoking is not allowed in public spaces. Following on, from ex-employees I have come across they are not given equal opportunity, and tips aren’t evenly distributed. Some members are paid more than others for doing the same job and the wait staff often wear nail varnish or acrylic nails which is against hygiene rules - I was particularly astonished by this as they claim to have an outstanding hygiene rating. And finally after having read some of these other reviews, I have noted that one of the baristas and one of the waitresses are responsible for leaving the 5 star reviews. Just had an awful experience in gilmours. I went to do some work at the cafe. When I arrived I was the only costumer and took a seat, I ordered a late, lunch and a brownie and spent around £15 and also left a tip in the jar at the front because the young girls behind the counter were lovely. Within the hour the cafe began to get busier and it became evident that the manager wanted my table. He made me feel so uncomfortable by moving chairs around me and staring at me that I felt I had no choice but to leave. When I asked him about it he made me feel uncomfortable for choosing to eat out alone and said I should sit on the end of someone else’s table even though I had not even finished my dessert yet. Went in here today on my own and was made to feel very unwelcome. Owner was quite rude to me and almost sighed when I said it was just for one. He wouldn't let me sit at a specific table and said it was because he could get one more round that one. Ended up walking out after being made to feel like a freak be because I was on my own. He also didn't have a face mask on so not complying to the law and also on reflection the tables seemed very close together, hardly spaced at all.
