The most beautiful and amazing Asian fine dining experience. It's like being in the Goldilocks zone, as everything is just right and on point.
The menu isn't huge, which allows Lavang to focus on what they do well, producing interesting dishes that you may not often find elsewhere. Their passion is evident from start to finish. Friendly and welcoming staff, who know just when to be there when you need them, yet giving you space to enjoy your experience.
The restaurant doesn't have too many tables, and they're spaced out, so you don't feel cramped by the surroundings. The atmosphere is calm and the decor beautiful.
After our basket of poppodum and chutney, my friends and I had Railway Prawns and Samundar Squid to start. The presentation was superb, with just the right size portion to tease the palate without overfilling us before main course.
I had Rogan for my main, while the others ate Lamb Nawab. We each shared a little of our dishes to share our experiences. Both the goat and lamb were sublime, with delicate and subtle spices that enhanced the flavours without overpowering the meats and sauce. The classic and honey breads were light and fluffy, with a finger bowl provided to prevent our hands getting sticky from the honey.
Dessert was Spiced Rum Gulab Jamun and Eton Mess. Both were light with plenty more subtle flavours.
Drinks were a few pints of Cobra, some malt whisky and a taste of Lavang's own spiced rum and ice, which was a delicate and beautiful drink.
The bill came to around the £200 mark for the three of us. By some standards, this may seem expensive. Factoring in the quality of the amazing food, the atmosphere, the friendly and on point staff, the passion Lavang demonstrate at what they do, and the welcome we received, I feel that it was excellent value for money. Hope to return before too long.
Thank you to the staff for such a lovely and...
Read moreLong over due review for an absolutely OUTSTANDING Indian restaurant. My wife and I have been fortunate to have been going to Lavang since opening night many moons and lockdowns ago; finally between the homeschooling I can pen some thoughts. We met Nash and Aj on the first night and they’ve treated us as good friends since. Their service is warm and sincere and they’ve created an excellent team and environment down on Fulwood road. They’re happy to offer suggestions for food and wine depending on our moods. In fact, their last wine selection has become our favourite wine of all time. Running Duck from South Africa. We of course prefer to eat in but until that joy can happen again we had another takeaway last night. Poppadoms, pickle, a lamb Malai Korma, a chicken Dahee Bhuna, couple of naans and a rice. We live local so all food was hot and flavoursome. The lamb tender and chicken moist. The dishes are deceptively filling. We’ve also tried a couple of their take home condiments and sauces from their new online shop. Very tasty. Good luck for the future, we hope you stay around for many many...
Read moreCritical points for any restaurant who has a reputation online, but the ground reality is completely different then expected, as a person travelling from far away, this is not expected from a restaurant with 4.7 star review.
The manager who takes order, shear racism while talking, we could see literally emotions on his face while talking to other people and we.
Quality: A. the garlic naan we ordered, doesn't have any garlic and there was a liquid, probably butter on the center of naan, completely ruined the texture and taste of the Naan. B. The Dum biryani we ordered has only plain white rice with 8 pieces of chicken in it, no taste no flavour and no spices, and cost 15.5 pounds.
Quality of Food: non of mains we ordered was less then 15 quids and has like 100g of curry, starters we have costs the same price, We ordered fried fish and chicken we got 4×1 inch pieces and 2 drum sticks of chicken. Completely unacceptable.
We ordered total food of more than 100 pounds we were four people, not even half full. Would not recommend going back...
