A night off from the child for some food with friends warranted a trip back to West 10. It’s a small cosy restaurant situated above the bar is cosy and serves, in my opinion, the best value fine dining in the city. The skills and techniques on display would cost significantly more if this was situated further south and the quality of the seasonal food coming out of the minuscule kitchen is matched in only a few places in Sheffield.
We plumped for the 5 course blind tasting menu which at £45 a head is a steal and that’s before you factor in the blue light, industry, or good food guide membership discounts on offer. We started with their signature tart of braised pork topped with thermidor espuma. This was followed by some crumb sheffield sourdough with rochers of whipped beef tallow and black garlic butter. Next came a lovely piece of salt baked celeriac in an umami rich mushroom broth with some pickled shimeji mushrooms to cut through the richness. The blackened cod that followed was perfectly pearlescent with another beautiful broth lightened with yuzu foam. The venison that followed was pink and paired with some beautiful beetroot and pickled blackberries and a deep rich glossy sauce. The dessert was a lovely light passion fruit parfait with torched Italian meringue pink peppercorn studded meringue shards passion fruit gel and aerated chocolate, many a technique in use which I fully appreciated. This was all rounded off with a gooey warm brownie petit four.
We chose to add on a cheese course at the end with some port which finished us off nicely.
The meal was delicious and the effort and technique on display at the price point is hard to match definitely one I would recommend again and again. The dining room is cosy with pop art on the walls and the indie laced playlist had us reminiscing of uni...

❤️This hidden gem in S10 isn't just any restaurant - it's an experience. ✨ The service was fantastic, friendly and knowledgeable, guiding us through their innovative Lunch tasting menu. Menus are hyper-seasonal, changing regularly to reflect the best available produce.
🍽️Speaking of the food... WOW! Each dish was a harmonious flavor explosion, showcasing fresh, seasonal ingredients in unexpected ways. Seriously, words can't describe how delicious and unique everything was. From the amuse bouche to the final bite, we were totally blown away. They even brought us extra rounds of @crumb.sheffield sourdough with truffle chicken skin butter, insanely good! All we can say is that their accomplished head chef Scott Philliskirk knows exactly what he's doing. This was the best we have eaten in a good while.
🦐If the meal wasn’t stand out enough on its on, we’d let them know in advance that Lucy was unable to have the lobster tart due to an allergy. They made her a personalised alternative and gave the best attention to safety she's ever experienced in any restaurant! Huge bonus points 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
🍾🍷We chose to add a wine flight to our lunch. Each glass was both generous and delicious, with a bit of info provided on each producer and wine type. It was so nice to try beautiful wine that complimented the meal perfectly.
❤️Whether you're a seasoned foodie or just looking for a special occasion spot, West 10 is a must-try. Unlike some high end restaurants that are style of substance West 10 offers fair prices for incredible food and drink. We all left planning our next visits. Get booked in! You won't regret it!
The £15 pp lunch menu offer is on until the end of Feb - book quick to save disappointment. The wine flight was an additional £15 pp if you...
Read moreMy friend and I visited Sheffield from London and decided to come to this restaurant while catching up a friend who lives here. I was looking for an upmarket fine dining restaurant that would not break the bank. The food here was exquisite. The server was fantastic. He gave us information about each dish's preparation and ingredients. We were particularly impressed that he noted that my friend was left handed and ensured that her cutlery was placed in the left. My only gripe is that I recognise I have a big appetite and did not find the menu filling. There were several courses where I would have loved bigger portions in particular...
