Lily's — Restaurant in Sheffield

Been a regular here for very many years but never again after last Saturday's experience. The staff have never been concerned about cleanliness in handling your food after taking payment from the previous customer, handling their coins/banknotes. They should use tongs or disposable gloves.

However, Covid-19 has brought things to a new low. Despite making a token effort of masks to be worn and one way in, one way out, they only pay lip service and ought to be reported to the Council. As someone else states, just say you have asthma and nobody will ask you to wear mask. The staff don't wear masks and neither do many of the customers. I suspect it's because many are regulars and they don't want to upset them but it's extremely inconsiderate of both management and those customers who can't be bothered to wear a mask to those who try to protect themselves and others. The final straw was when 'Adam' and his three unruly children came into the shop and he was clearly related to one of the staff. If I could pick zero stars, I would. We arrived a few minutes before closing. I didn't know it closed early. I was then greeted by an extremely rude woman. She said and I quote, "you need to hurry up we're closing" I get it was a few minutes before closing, however, they were open, if they didnt want to serve anyone, they should have been closed. It doesn't matter if you arrive 1 minute after opening or 1 minute before closing, you're open. Our sandwiches were thrown together and all in all, a disgraceful way to treat customers. Only popped in for a sandwich on the way to the match. Really fantastic service. The staff are ever so friendly and courteous but also very professional in their attitude to work and customer service and satisfaction. From ordering and paying to receiving my sandwich, it was less than a minute and to say the shop was packed was an understatement. The food is amazing and of real high quality. I can't recommend them enough. I only wish I lived closer and I'd be visiting most...
