The Dark Horse Bar — Restaurant in Sheffield

I went to this bar on Saturday night for the first time and after driving past several times thinking how nice it looked I was excited to go in. We had just finished a lovely meal across the road and just wanted a drink before going home. Upon entry I thought it looked really nice, even better than I’d thought. There were 6 of us and we approached the bar where a young girl with blonde hair said to my partner “your only having one drink as we’re closing in half an hour” a bit surprised by her abruptness we ordered 6 drinks and sat down. After about 10 minutes she came to our table interrupted our conversation with “I want you out the building in 15 minutes” ok we said. 10 minutes later she was back with ‘you need to leave now!!” I understand the licensing laws, but the customer service from this kid was appalling, there is a way to speak and communicate with adults and that was most certainly not it. My partner told her so and she became even more condescending, we left and she was putting the shutters down before I’d even got out the door. I've eaten here four times now because it's near my house and I liked it. They have however got my order wrong twice now; the first time I got served a meat burger when I'd ordered a veggie one and this eve I was brought the veggie chicken burger when I'd ordered the veggie patty. There is clearly something breaking down between the order and the kitchen.

Another thing is that they used to have decent beer. I dont know if they've been taken over by a brewery or something but the selection at the moment is really poor. Used to have pulls, dark beers, sours, etc. Now it's bland pale after bland pale. If you want your pub full of middle-aged S11 men in gillets then crack on. Else get some decent beer back in!

Good drinks selection, amazing food and lovely service.

Decided to pop down as I thought it would have quietened down from the grand opening weekend but it still had a welcome lively buzz.

The staff were so welcoming and attentive and even though the drinks menu isn't massive it's well chosen and well executed.

As expected the food by Slap and Pickle did not disappoint and was the same mouthwatering quality that I have come to expect from their other venues.

My one and only criticism is that staff did not seem fully veresed in all the cocktails on offer but this is a minor thing that will improve with time. I will definitely be returning for more food,...
