Had a relaxed meal with a friend for his birthday. The decor is quintessential of any small independent Italian restaurant which I’m a big fan of for it’s quirky nature and small tables make it great for a meal with a friend or a date with your other half. Absolutely delicious authentic Risotto Nero was one of the best Risotto I’ve eaten outside Italy and a generous portion beautifully presented and served quickly. Tiramisu was spot on too so would absolutely recommend for authentic, flavourful Italian cuisine which was very reasonably priced and great value for the quality. Lovely Italian coffee finished a very pleasant meal. Service was a little slow but it seemed an unseasonably busy Monday night and it did mean we had a relaxed meal with plenty of time to chat and catch up. Car park round the back accessible from a nearby side road was really useful, just remember to give them your registration so you don’t get a ticket. Covid measures were reassuring if that features in your choosing of a restaurant currently with staff wearing masks and screens between adjacent tables in the centre of the restaurant.

Unfortunately, after booking a table for four, and being very excited in trying out this restaurant, our experience was not great. We arrived on time and were seated at our table, we poured out wines and ordered the food. After approximately 1hr 20mins, we had still not received any food. In this time, roughly 5 more parties arrived, which resulted in the restaurant having to re shuffle tables/chairs to accommodate. We then decided to cancel our order (which hadn't even made the kitchen) and go elsewhere. Very disappointed with the service and the organisation of the restaurant. Luckily for us, we managed to walk up the road and get a last minute table and get some food, otherwise, a nice planned evening 'out out' would have resulted in a greasy kebab! Poor service. Beautiful original quaint restaurant. BYOB for small corkage fee. Meals like Nonna used to make 🥰 Slight error on order between waiting staff and kitchen due to malfunctioning ticket machine (explained in full by attentive staff) and looked after very well. Highly recommended if you want an original experience and support an independent. Not for you if you prefer large chain regurgitated clinical places! Food cooked to order.
