Appalled at the rudeness of the manager Callum and waitress Carol, our family of 9, no table big enough, went to move 1 table, Carol came over very rude, told us in a rude voice you can't do that , so had to leave, went to speak to the manager, he was very dismissive even after we explained,to be told it's up to the discretion of the manager to move furniture. No problem with that under these circumstances but he should tell his staff this only to be told by Carol that she did apologise for having to move the table back. I can honestly say myself and 8 other people witnessed her moving the table and not once did she say sorry, so she actually was arguing that I was wrong! I am so disappointed in the rudeness of both these people.I will be letting all we know of this situation over social media and I will be writing an official complaint to not only the Head Manager of the sheaf island,I will be writing to the head of the weatherspoons franchise to make them very aware of these 2 individual staff's attitude...
Read moreHuge barnlike space lacking in atmosphere. Has a barmaid with a voice like a chainshaw. A few old codgers who seem to be in every night and act as though they own it. They have access to the disabled loo and use the fire door when they go out for a smoke rather walking the few yards further to the actual entrance. UPDATE This has to be the coldest pub in Sheffield. It's not only the customers but also the staff who use the fire exit doors to access the outdoor area and they invariably leave them open. Tonight though one of the doors bears an out-of-order sign which says "for emergency use only"!You couldn't make it up. FURTHER UPDATE As a result of the emphasis on ordering with the App, visitors to a Wetherspoons now have to witness the staff continually trekking across the pub. Owing to its size and, predominantly, young clientele this is particularly marked in the Sheaf Island. At times this becomes so irritating that you are tempted to shout "For God's sake,...
Read moreThere is something seriously wrong with the management at the Witherspoons River Island on Ecclesall Road, in Sheffield. Having ordered a full breakfast, it arrived with the little butter containers buried in my beans. The eggs were over cooked, and I advised the bar tender who appeared moments later with more, over cooked eggs. When I asked for these to be replaced, I was told, ‘that’s how we do them’, their timers are pre-set. I asked again for runny eggs and highlighted the mushroom which I couldn’t even cut with the knife, it was so dry. The replacement, runny eggs and mushroom, appeared 5 minutes after I’d eaten the breakfast. The arrangement of the breakfast was appalling, not a care in the world, just thrown on the plate. How long would it have taken to properly arrange the food so that it looked reasonably presentable. If this is the usual standards of Witherspoons food I will give it miss, even the Moor Market, is better and at...
