This might be a long review... I have very mixed thoughts on this restaurant. We chose this place as a small group of people that came from out of town, looking for a nice halal place to eat and relax. We had booked a table and were quickly seated in a beautiful little booth. At first sight, you could see the restaurant was well decorated and everything looked very nice and new. We soon found out the restaurant had not long been opened. The owner quickly realised that the booth would not be big enough for us once the food arrived and reseated us to a larger table. The owner was very friendly and came to speak to us repeatedly to offer suggestions and ask for feedback. This showed great customer service. Once we ordered, the food took at least an hour to reach our table. The owner did explain that they were short staffed that day and apologised for the delays which was very courteous of him. My daughter order a starter of masala fish and fries which we expected to be a few bites but turns out it was a whole main meal. The garlic bread we ordered was just warmed buttered bread. All the food was presented beautifully and tasted nice. I did have a funny stomach the following day but I seemed to be the only, and no one else in the group had any issues so it could have just been me. Although a couple of us did think the fish I ordered had a smell. Maybe the Sheffield water did not agree with me! I ordered the sea bass which was very dry and there was only a tiny drizzle of sauce to accompany it. I would not recommend this dish. The salmon my friend ordered however, was delicious. We ordered a mixed range of foods. One of us ordered the spicy orange chilli chicken which comes with chopped up green chilli so was extremely spicy... be aware! The desserts were so beautifully presented and mostly tasted good. The dessert with peach and lemon (can't remember name) was the best one we had, yet the owner started he was thinking of removing this from the menu. To finish with, we ordered a pot of desi tea which arrived just lukewarm. We complained and they immediately brought us out a new pot which was piping hot. There is a separate womens area with a super cool sketch decor style. The area is separate but with a big viewing window so others can see in. There is an outdoor seating area which would be lovely on a nice hot day. The washrooms were clean and tidy and beautifully designed. The restaurant is parked on the corner/end of a main road but there is a very small carpark at the rear and other small pay and display carparks nearby. I LOVE the fact they have a scheme in place which means that 1% of all proceeds go to a charity organisation! Overall, The Pink Tree is a nice cosy spot for a meal. The complaints I had, I am putting down to teething problems and lack of staff that particular day. The business is fairly new and I'm sure they will learn and improve along the way and I wish them all best with this. I would visit again and try different foods and try some of the new items they have included since my visit.
We went back... I can honestly say it was a much better experience this time. Immediately, I could see small improvements. There is now a designated place to pray and the women's area has better privacy. Now down to the food; The restaurant have a breakfast/brunch menu until 3pm and then a lunch menu after 3pm. As we arrived just before 3pm, the chef was kind enough to allow us to order parts of both menus. All the food was beautifully presented and delicious. We ordered aloo paratha, arancini, samosa chaat, Angus beef lasagne, orange chilli chicken and for desserts, pink botanical and fruit tart. The restaurant was fairly busy today and I was expecting a delay with the food, yet it was served to us promptly. Again, the owner personally came to greet us and asked for feedback on the food and service. When he remembered that we had been previously and had 'warm tea' issues, he ordered us a pot on the house. Great customer service! A second extra long review as the owner mentioned how much he...
Read moreHave been here twice now once with a friend and yesterday with my family.
Yesterday we was met at the door straight away, I asked to to be seated in the ladies section, I came with my mum and little brother and felt comfortable eating there as I could see it was busy with men in the main section. Bit of a weird critique but the floor was very slippery when we first came in so I assumed they had mopped but had to be careful so I didnât slip.. Felt a bit pressured to order quickly as one of the female waiters had asked us if we were ready to which I said no we need some more time and then she was just standing there waiting and looked a bit annoyed. Not to mention after we ordered nobody checked up on us making sure our food was okay. Please make the writing for the breakfast only time bigger because we initially ordered the desi breakfast (had this last time and it was very flavourful so recommend) not noticing that itâs only till 3pm. I also feel like the menus should have pictures or at least pictures of the food online, but I guess this is an issue with most restaurants, so it was difficult to pick what to get just based off the description on top of that the waiters waiting for us to order so I wasnât happy with what I ordered, my sandwiches were very dry and bland and I could just taste the potato and seasoning seeds theyâd used, and the rice and lamb especially, couldâve been homemade, the only thing that made it taste a bit better was the sauces they gave so ate it anyway. My mum didnât complain about her food but I knew I couldâve ordered something nicer for her especially for the price that we paid.
However on positive notes, my brother was happy with his burger, we were provided with boxes to take the remaining food home after asking, the decor of the female section is very pink, feminine and cosy and I like how they have the booths.
Also after looking at the reviews Iâve found out that some of the profit goes towards an orphanage charity so I feel better about eating here yesterday. I would suggest looking at the reviews and choosing what to order before you come because Iâve noticed lots of customers have put photos of their order which wouldâve been helpful to see when ordering. This is so that you are happy with your food because not everything on the menu is justifiable with the cost.
Very average experience this time round in relation to the food and service and...
