It wasn't bad.. the beer I had was IPA and had a slight vinegary undertone so either it was the end of the barrel or the lines weren't cleaned properly, but it wasn't awful. I opted for the carvery for my meal. We had to wait a good 15 to 20 minutes for a new gammon to come out but once it did the gammon and beef were both nice and there's a good selection of veg. No parsnips though! Gutted. My daughter had a hotdog but they can't source hotdog buns so a hot burger dog. The desserts let it down big time. Sticky toffee pudding.. No. Chocolate fudge thing then.. no. How about that chocolate ice cream.. no. I mean there's plenty of other ice cream flavours to choose from but I don't know how many they had in stock and there's loads of massive cakes too that you can choose, but again I don't know if what you can see is display only or could be ordered. Last little gripe was the post mix for the lemonade had gone and we had to tell them three times before they sorted it out. The three young kids with us had a great time though and they would probably give it 5 stars. Nice play area for them but take some coins as there are a couple of arcade games and a kids air hockey table for them to play on. Can imagine it's good for bigger groups as there's a massive dining area but best...
Read moreThe Green itself is a nice idea with the Gaudi-esque wave walls.
However a big minus to Sheffield is the number of aggressive beggars around the Green and West St because of soft touch students. In 24 hrs, 13 had approached me with the classic spare any change mantra. The council says don't give them any. But you're likely to get a mouthful of abuse if you don't. Additionally beggars' urine stains and smells and empty drug vials can be found on the street and in every other doorway. I avoid what could have been a lovely spot of fresh air in the city now.
Another thing is that events are hosted here with stages, climbing wall and so forth. Lots of people visit which turns the grass to dust. Recently there was another music event, Tramlines going on on the Green and elsewhere, with a volume loud enough to instruct attendees that they were having fun and being wild and for the volume to be an intrusion 2 miles away. Such a volume is uncivilised. God help the poor residents living in the flats just...
Read moreNot so good for artistic roller quad skating. Surface needs redoing as has little potholes in places.
The people who go there are generally very friendly although a few idiots spoil it for everyone being sick all over the concrete skating area ect or loitering but they are not skateboarding or on a bike or skates.
Everyone made me feel very welcome even though I was quad skating and no one else was. Although it gets to busy for that activity at times and the obstacles get in the way but I still enjoy it there.
If it was resurfaced it would get more stars from me. It...
