Our party called here on the 10th of June, early lunchtime. The waiting staff member was pleasant and prompt, and the food was brought within about 10 minutes. However, one fundamental aspect spoiled the atmosphere, the sheer volume of noisy machinery, (blender, presumably) coming from the nearby kitchen. We sat in the restaurants' rear, near the toilet, (no other table being available), so this being quite a small space meant that customers frequently walked very closely past our table. Other diners had to raise their voices above the noisy kitchen, who seemed to require an open door, due to the heat. The cramped, noisy space is not reflected in the prices charged, and it was a relief to escape into the street outside. The meals were overpriced. I had the halloumi wrap plus salad, a fairly small portion on a small plate, so lost 10% of my lettuce. We agreed that not much could be done about the kitchen noise, and it must be quite challenging for staff's working conditions, who really should wear...
Read moreI went there with my wife at 8:25 am. In theory they open at 08:30. The door was open and it wasn't any sign saying that was close. We did open the door and very respectfully ask if it was open or not. A guy did check a clock and he said something like: well, we open in 5 minutes but if you take a coffee for take away. Well, I run a business, and that's exactly the opposite to a great service or hospitality. I wish the owner reads the reviews and will explain to this worker that this is not how you get loyal and happy customers. First, a welcoming "hello guys, good morning, welcome etc" would be great. Second, if its close, close the door. Third, the place is empty and you are forcing customers that actually wanted to sit and drink the coffee inside, to walk away and drink the coffee outside. The experience couldn't be worst. Very disappointing service. And also, the coffee it's ok, but there are better quality coffee places in the town, and overall much...
Read moreAs Shrewsbury residents, and despite several attempts over the years to experience this cafe, we've never yet managed to reach the stage where anyone actually comes to take our order. Yes, we are fully aware of the requirement to 'wait by the sign at the door' until a space is available but despite this, and having dutifully taken our seats (even going to the counter to order there, when we are told that someone will be over to take our order), no waiting staff ever materialise and we are left to sit there, totally ignored until we eventually give up and leave. Again, no one notices or cares. We do understand that this is a busy cafe but if they can't cope with the volume, maybe reduce the capacity, but ignoring customers isn't...
