We visited a few days ago-on a sunny day- and the experience was magical. The park was beautifully maintained, with a gorgeous path-route around the river. It's a large, busy park, but is expanse enough that you don't feel that everyone is on top of you. It's a short walk to the town centre, so visitors can go for a shop and then have a nice scenic walk. The playground had something for various ages and abilities. I have a 3 year old and 1.5 year old who could access a lot of the equipment, and had fun having multiple goes on things. There's a seasonally run splash pad section to the playground (was available when we went), which of course my kids and the oldest child-at-heart had to try out. It was immaculately clean and I love these additions to playgrounds recently. These splash pads are a great draw when booking holidays, but as money is tight, why not just pop to Shrewsbury instead of forking out for a holiday to use one. We went to the coffee kiosk attached to the playground (coffee evolution I think it was called), which had outdoor seating overlooking the river, with limited seating under an outdoor cover. The food and drinks were fairly high priced, but the quality was excellent, so this kind of trumps the price for me. There was also a smaller food van there and the Boathouse pub, just over the bridge. We didn't go to the pub, but it looked stunning and seemed very busy (a good sign). The garden, next to the beautiful bandstand, were sublime. It was magical oasis, which my children loved to explore the paths off the main walk, feed the ducks on the pond and marvel at the colours and sounds all around. It was a pure sensory experience. There's an abundance of benches there, perfect for a rest to bask in the tranquility. We obviously didn't try this, but boating activities are available here and there's a park run on Saturdays. The only negative thing I can say is that the toilets were not great. I can only comment on the women's (was a men's and disabled access toilet too), but there were no toilet seats- not great for when holding your little one's over the toilet, the toilets were grubby and the baby change table was a bit dirty too (but at least it was sturdy). On the plus side, at least there were working toilets open and available. With the footfall coming through to use the toilets, I imagine it's a big upkeep for cleaning staff. This park is perfect for kids, adults (young and old), families, dog walkers, nature lovers, fitness fans. A gem within a beautiful town.

Quick summary : amazing place, with lovely old bridges and pretty garden. Recommended. Great for Walks, picnics, exercise and landscape photography. How long to enjoy the whole park : 1-1.5hrs Location : easy to find. If parking use the road signs or Google map " the quarry fitness centre" as its the closest parking lot to the park. I would recommend coming here as this park is simply beautiful. The homes and buildings that line the river on the outskirts are beautiful. The bridges are charming and great places to take photos. The river goes around the whole park and sometimes you'll see a tour boat sailing passed. There is a cafe at parking lot for a drink but looks outdated. I recommend having a walking through the town and enjoying a drink. There are loads of paths to take around the park and most lead to the centre where you'll find the most cute and pretty little garden. There are benches to sit and admire. Nice water features and lovely plants. You can't get great views of st Chad's church aswell. Overall, I advise visiting the quarry and its inner flower garden. It's very beautiful and charming as is the town itself.

I recently visited Quarry Park in Shrewsbury and I must say, it was a breathtaking experience. The park is situated alongside a beautiful river and the surrounding landscape is absolutely stunning. The tranquility and peacefulness of the park made me feel like I was miles away from the hustle and bustle of the city. One of the highlights of the park for me was the abundance of beautiful flowers that were in bloom. The vibrant colors and fragrances of the flowers were truly amazing and added to the overall beauty of the park. The park is also well-maintained and there are plenty of benches and seating areas where you can relax and take in the stunning views. It's a perfect spot for a picnic or just a leisurely walk. The river running through the park adds a special touch to the already amazing landscape. It's a great spot to sit and watch the water flow by

Shrewsbury has its own 29-acre parkland known as The Quarry. Throughout the year you’ll find a host events taking place at The Quarry Park, including The Carnival, Regatta and Dragon Boat racing to name just a few.The Quarry has been important site for recreation since the 16th Century. At its centre lies the Dingle, a formal floral masterpiece created by world renowned gardener Percy Thrower. It is a beautiful sunken garden landscaped with alpine borders, colourful bedding plants, shrubbery and water features. Each August The Quarry comes alive with the Shrewsbury Flower Show.

The Quarry is always a beautiful day out by the river. You can take the riverboat Sabrina for a ride up the river, which is a very interesting informative tour, or hire canoes. There's a lovely pub to eat across the bridge and it's an excellent walk from one side of Shrewsbury to the other by the water. Young children will enjoy the play equipment in the park and the swimming pool is close by. Events are frequently held in the Quarry, such as the Shrewsbury Flower Show and Shrewsbury Food Festival. Immediately beside the Quarry the are many event restaurants and bars.
