Square Peg Coffee House — Restaurant in Sketty

I would give this place 5 stars if they opened every Sunday, as it is the only day I can visit.

This Sunday was an exception and I hope they open regularly in future, as food of this quality and value for money is near-impossible to find.

My partner and I had poached egg, black pudding and bacon on sourdough (with sundried tomatoes). It's twelve hours since I ate, and I'm still not hungry! This is food made with love and care and better than anything on offer elsewhere in the local area (and probably the whole of Swansea, tbh).

Unfortunately, our order was messed up and I had finished my breakfast before my partner's identical order arrived (no hasty compromises on quality). We received an immediate apology and the offer of a free coffee or slice of cake, which I've...

I searched for "Breakfast" on Google maps, and this came up, so off I toddled.

I was feeling glum because, the day after Brexit, so much of the noise on the news had been so miserably anti-immigrant.

And the first a saw of "Square Peg" was a sign on the door saying "We welcome asylum seekers and refugees" and it was like a ray of hope.

And then I went in and found a coffee shop which is non-profit, which gives back to the community it serves as well as the community where its coffee is grown. And which sources from local business. And which has a sign you can put on your table if you simply want a chat.

And I was won over before the first sip of delicious coffee, or the first bite of divine avocado on toast.

Thank you, Square Peg. You are all that is best...

When people have been shouting from the rooftops about this brunch location, you MUST go.

This was exactly the case with @squarepegcoffee I was recommended to go here and I don’t know why but it took a while to get round to visit… and I’m gutted I didn’t visit sooner, as this place really is a local treasure to Swansea.

I really feel Swansea has some great brunch places, and this assuredly deserves one of the top spots.

I always say, if it’s busy and full of locals - you know you’re in for a treat. And it was that 🥰
