I visited the Egypt Centre with my granddaughter soon after it opened and returned last week with my great grandson, age seven. I was surprised that it had not seemed to change over the years. He had looked forward to the visit, but I do not know what he made of the collection. He had questions to answer on papers given to him on entering and the volunteers showed him a display concerning "Mumyfying" and a game. Nothing else was within his age group or was explained. No booklet was found or available on the subjects of: The Nile, Egyptians who left the objects on display, The Temples, There were booklets on Religions, Gods and some other subjects and in foreign languages. After looking at the website to plan the visit, i found it outdated and not of a standard associated with a major University. It held items written during the pandemic and not updated. Today, I found subjects which would have been helpful, but overlooked as I had not broken the code, which led to such discoveries. One day someone will return to the Egypt Centre and decide to bring it, along with the website and Utube page up to date. Until then it's a lost opportunity, but I am sure with great aims. They missed this target. Better luck elsewhere.

What a hidden gem. This place might be small, but the educational value compared to the British Museum is much higher. Knowledgeable volunteers, amazing information, and incredible artefacts. Plenty for children to do (we don't have any but they're clearly catered for here in the right ways) and the volunteers adjust their approach for different age groups. Weekdays there is no parking on campus, but you can pay and display at Pub on the Pond (Singleton carpark). The Egyptian Centre is free entry and run in donations and shop sales so make sure to contribute something as you leave. A new favourite.

A wonderful museum about ancient Egypt. The museum is on 2 floors l, but they are raising money to refurbish the lower floor. The video is display of a mummy bandage which after xrays turned out to be a snake. They have a lovely virtual display of the snake. The pottery with the dark top is around 5000 years old as is the translucent bowl. Amazing quality. Enjoy your visit

We visited today, especially for my daughter who loves everything Egyptian! However even though I checked on line to make sure it was open, which via Google it said, it opened at 10am. However it wasnt open! There was a notification on the door saying it was closed until the 2nd of January 2024. This would have been useful information to have out there, not just a notice on the door. Obviously I give a 2 star because we didn't get to go in. We will be back later in the year to see what we've missed this time round. Luckily the waterfront museum was open and we still...
