Upon driving to Isle of Skye we found ourselves seeking seafood enroute to Portree. We found this restaurant via Google and this meal was my favorite during my two weeks stay in Ireland and Scotland. I am comparing this to some of the best fish and chips, fancy Angus beef dinners, and many other top notch meals. The freshness of the seafood and the simplicity with which it was served left me wanting more. I ordered the fresh oysters, the langoustine (Norway lobster), and a bucket of squat lobsters.
If there is a way for me to transport back there, I would reorder the same items, minus the squat lobsters ( a bit much work to dig out and eat ) and throw in a half dozen more oysters.
The owner and his son were super attentive and provided us with ample lemons and a very adequate amount of a seafood cocktail sauce but none of the seafood items required any condiments. It was fresh and sweet straight out of the ocean.
They also showed us some small benches for seating outside of the shack and also provided us access to the bathroom next door.
If only I can be transported...
Read moreIt really is just a shack selling shellfish -brilliant!. We went to see what they had and ended up getting squat lobster tails, Cullen skink, mussels and crab claws. All locally caught earlier that day (most by one of the guys serving). The other guy serving was very friendly and offered advice on how to reheat and serve (as we weren't eating straight away). All were very fresh and super tasty. We even went back the next day for a dressed crab and a whole cooked lobster. Again great service and food was lovely. Can't fault it...
PS. For the "hard of thinking" the squat lobster tail rolls don't contain lobster. They have SQUAT lobster. Not the same thing. If you don't know what that is.... Google them. Or ask the guys at the shack....
Read moreWhat a find and the food is as top notch as the service. All the good is great but my top tip would be either the cold smoked salmon roll or the crab salad. To be honest I can’t make my mind up which, so I keep alternating. The lime and mayo sauce just adds to the experience. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the lady who served me this afternoon after only just starting was a real credit, I really didn’t have any inclination she had just started, as excellent service as I have had previously. One last top tip, don’t forget to grab a fork because the sandwich rolls normally suffer from fallout, in an excellent way. A real credit to the owner and thanks,...
