We L.O.V.E The Coffee Bothy. It is one of our must visit spots on Skye. From the moment you walk in, you feel so welcome - the atmosphere is so warm and cheerful, and the staff so friendly and attentive. This is definitely a feel good place - I challenge you to not feel brighter and happier, by the time you leave! Jynx the dog is a great (and very cute) addition to the team. The staff also have great local recommendations and happy to share them, so definitely pick their brains if you have the opportunity - we completely fell in love with a place we visited on their recommendation (and subsequently got engaged there)!
Importantly, the coffee and food are both fab. As a vegetarian, I am spoilt for choice. We highly recommend the breakfast bowl and morning rolls, followed up by a slice (or two) of tasty homemade cake of course - the challenge will be choosing which cake, they all look so delicious.
I am also a big fan of the decor, The Coffee Bothy is so cosy and there are lots of fun additions (such as a surprise highland cow in the bathroom)!
The Coffee Bothy deserves every award it has won (and hopefully will win in the future), and I am already looking forward to...
Read moreDelightful little cafe with a surprising amount of breakfast, lunch dessert, and coffee options. We noticed a lot of places in this area close pretty early and we like to eat brunch later so we were really excited when we found this place still open at 2 PM and able to serve us brunch on Tuesday afternoon. We got in just before 2:30 PM and were told we have to order quick because the kitchen was closing soon but that worked perfectly fine for us. It was a really rainy and windy day so it was pretty packed but we still got to comfy seats by the window in an arm chair, and a regular chair. We ordered Waffle with banana, Bothy Beast sandwich, Chai Latte, Dirty Chai Latte. The drinks were great. The waffle was very soft and you could tell it was actually freshly cooked. The presentation was great with the banana slices cut up and arranged in one corner, some powdered sugar, and a little jar of maple syrup. The sandwich was delicious even though it was three slices of bread. All the flavours inside were apparent. The service was quick and everyone was really friendly. I would eat here every day if I were...
Read moreWe regularly commute through Skye & decided to visit after all the Instagram hype. It was a frosty -2c outside and the Bothy was absolutely perishing cold inside. The heaters were on, but possibly only minutes before opening. Lots of staff around & nobody lighting the famed logburner fire. The girls at the counter were smiley and welcoming. We read the menu.....£3.50 for 2 slices of toast & £4.95 for a mocha seemed really expensive. We ordered coffees and Lorne rolls. Cheap fluffy rolls, watery vinegary cheap ketchup and my slice of lorne was thin and of the red dyed, cheap variety. An expensive £4.50 for poor quality. My partner just quietly paid.
On leaving we politely said goodbye (deciding not to complain as we've had a rough week with bigger issues). But the lady in charged was quick to say "wait, have you paid !" with a tone that was as frosty as the 'fireside' seats. We politely said we indeed had paid ....and left....
